Only weeks after Stark Future were among the cast of competitors at the 2023 X Games in California, the company were thrilled to make their racing debut at the third round of the ’23 SX Tour Campionnat de France last weekend. The company have been working closely with the French motorcycle federation – the Fédération Française de Motocyclisme (FFM) – to allow the Stark VARG to join the start gate of Europe’s top Supercross series.
Thanks to the FFM’s progressive attitude to evolving technology in the motorcycle market, Stark Future were able to put their first ‘factory’ effort in the hands of renowned French supercross athlete Thomas Do for round three of seven at Saint Georges De Montaigu on France’s west coast on Saturday 26th August.
Do rolled into the SX2 class (250cc) on a wild-card basis, meaning his efforts to secure a fine 6th position with the Stark VARG will not count for any championship points. The Federation and SX Tour series organisers were monitoring the power setting and technical spec of the motorcycle throughout the event to ensure parity and full compliance. The FFM were keen to allow the Stark VARG to line-up against combustion-engined counterparts as part of a ‘pilot scheme’ that could see an adjustment to the sport’s regulations for 2024.
At Saint Georges De Montaigu, #773 had a front fork issue but still used the benchmark handling, innovative engineering and power-to-weight ratio of the Stark VARG to immediately stun the competition.

It was a first for the VARG in the SX2 category!” Thomas grinned afterward. “Despite the limited training time on the bike, my feeling with the VARG was incredible from the first laps on the track. During the timed practice sessions, I ranked 3rd in my group. To finish the evening, I secured 6th place in the final race. I can’t wait to ride the bike again this week so that we can aim for a podium next Saturday for Brienon.¨
Do was allowed to move from his customary berth in the SX1 category to steer the Stark VARG in SX2 and will continue the ‘experiment’ for the fourth date of the calendar at Briénon, Yonne on Saturday, September 2nd.
“This summer has delivered a couple of milestones for Stark Future and to see the Stark VARG in full flow and showing some of its capabilities was special and emotional for us,” commented Stark Future PR Director, Ben Cobb. “We want to publicly thank the FFM for their support and enthusiasm to step back and look at the wider picture of top-level motorsport and whatever possible effort can be made towards sustainability and consideration of future developments in the sector. Supercross is a fantastic discipline full of passion and commitment but it should also be the ultimate window for innovation and new ideas. This is where we want to be. We want to show that our Stark VARG is the fresh standard and more than capable of lining up against traditional technology on a fair playing field.”
