Chance Hymas to Undergo Surgery to Repair Torn ACL

  • 250-class contender injured right knee at High Point Motocross
  • Hymas will miss remainder of the 2025 race season

NASHVILLE, Tennessee. (June 18, 2025) – Following a late-race incident during moto 2 of this past weekend’s AMA Pro Motocross Championship round at High Point Raceway, Honda HRC Progressive rider Chance Hymas has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. He is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday, June 24, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

While running second in the day’s final 250-class moto, Hymas caught his right foot in a corner and immediately felt pain in his knee, although he was able to complete the race in third place for fourth overall; he currently sits third in the points standings. A June 16 scan confirmed a full ACL tear, as well as a slight sprain to his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and a minor contusion to his meniscus. This is the first injury to Hymas’ right ACL, although he has undergone two surgical repairs to his left ACL.

“It’s definitely a bummer—gut-wrenching,” Hymas said in a video posted on his Instagram. “It’s been a couple of hard days for me, trying to just process it. But now I’m looking forward to getting this thing fixed and coming back next year strong. I’m going to Vanderbilt next week and get this thing fixed up, then head out to Cali and work with Doc G [H. Rey Gubernick] and get me right. Once again, thank you guys for all the kind wishes. It’s not the news I want to be sharing, but we’re going to move forward past this. I’ve done this before, so it’s not going to stop me now.”

Although there’s not currently a prognosis for Hymas’ return, he will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, but he will be back with the team for 2026.

“Chance is as tough as they come, so when we saw him in pain after the High Point race, we knew it was serious,” said Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda. “We’re gutted to have the injury confirmed, as he was just beginning to show his true potential, with a dominant 1-1 sweep at the Thunder Valley National a couple weeks ago. On the positive side, Chance’s past experiences mean he knows exactly how to tackle this challenge. He has our full support, and we know that he’ll come out the other side stronger than ever.”

Honda HRC Progressive has a weekend off before returning to action at The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts, on Saturday, June 28.

CHASE SEXTON SIDELINED FOR ROUND 2 OF PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
SMX 2025 News

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has confirmed that defending 450MX Champion Chase Sexton will remain sidelined for Round 2 of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship as he continues to recover from a crash at the series opener in Pala, California.

Sexton had a strong start to the Fox Raceway round by posting the second fastest qualifying time onboard his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, before a costly early fall during Moto 1 ended his day abruptly.

“I’m definitely banged up after last weekend’s crash but thankfully there’s nothing broken so that’s a positive,”Chase commented.“I’ve made the decision to sit out this weekend’s race and focus on getting back to 100%. I appreciate all the support from my team, fans, and everyone who’s reached out. Best of luck to my KTM teammates this weekend.”

Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager:“It is unfortunate to announce that Chase will be sitting out this weekend for the second round of Pro Motocross at Hangtown. He came off a great 2025 Supercross season and showed phenomenal speed and strength at the opening round of Pro Motocross. Unfortunately, he took a hard hit in the first moto which sidelined him for moto two. After feeling the aftereffects of that crash, Chase has made the decision, with the support from the team, to sit out this weekend’s race. The health and safety of our athletes is the number one priority at Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, and we want to ensure that Chase is back to 100% before returning to the bike and the track.”

Pro Motocross calling for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing TeamMalcolm Stewart and RJ Hampshire focused on 450MX success outdoors

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing will enter the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship with Malcolm Stewart and RJ Hampshire equipped with the Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition, aiming to make their mark in the 450MX Class when the new season commences in Pala, California.

Fox Raceway will play host to Round 1 of the outdoor series that doubles as stage two of the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) this Saturday, May 24. The series will travel throughout the United States this summer, contested over 11 rounds and with the titles set to be decided at Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland, on August 23.

Fresh from finishing fourth in the AMA Supercross Championship, Stewart was also impressive in Pro Motocross last season on his way to sixth in the 450MX standings. The 32-year-old Floridian has the potential to further build upon his career form and is motivated to factor toward the front of the pack when the gates officially drop this weekend.

« I am really looking forward to another great season racing outdoors! » said Stewart. « So far, this has been a career year for myself getting that first win in Supercross! We had a good outdoor season in finishing sixth overall last year, so I’m looking forward to getting better results this year. »

In making his anticipated full-time transition to the Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition ahead of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, at 29 years of age Hampshire is supremely excited for the opportunity that he has earned. Last year he missed the majority of the outdoors while in the 250 Class, but managed a podium at the final round despite limited starts.

Now, after fighting for the 250SX East title in the AMA Supercross Championship and placing third in the final standings, Hampshire opens the next chapter in his career as an exciting new addition to the premier class with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing. RJ underwent minor surgery to remove hardware in his previously-injured wrist following Salt Lake City, which the surgeon is confident will alleviate any pain experienced during the indoor series.

« Moving from a 250 to a 450 is a pivotal moment in any racer’s career, and I’m excited to be making that transition for the outdoors with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team, »Hampshire stated. « I’ve always enjoyed riding a 450, and now I finally get the opportunity to race one full-time. We’ve been putting in the work to make the transition as smooth as possible, and I’m feeling confident and ready for the season to kick-off. After the way the Supercross championship ended, I’m more motivated than ever and ready to embrace the grind this summer. »

Nathan Ramsey – Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team Manager: « As we transition from Supercross to the Pro Motocross season, I’m proud of the strides both Malcolm and RJ have made. Malcolm had an incredible Supercross season, earning his first 450SX career win in Tampa and consistently pushing toward the podium, finishing strong with a second-place in Salt Lake. With last year being his first full outdoor season on the 450 since 2013, he is entering this season even more prepared for outdoors, and I fully expect him to be a serious contender this summer. RJ’s season took a different path due to his injury and off-season surgery, but he showed his resilience by jumping into the East Coast series and giving it everything he had. Watching him battle through to the very end in Salt Lake was a testament to his determination. Now, as he makes the exciting move to the 450 Class for outdoors, it’s a special moment for all of us at Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing to be a part of his journey from 250s to the 450. Although he recently had a minor procedure to remove the plate from his wrist, we’re confident in the medical team’s assessment and believe he’ll perform at the high level we all expect. We’re fired up to get the Pro Motocross season started and can’t wait to see what these two 450 boys will deliver on the track. »

RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING READY TO RACE ENTERING AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPSMX Announcement
MURRIETA, Calif. – Reigning 450MX Champion Chase Sexton will commence his title defense this Saturday in Fox Raceway’s opening round of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, joining Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammates Aaron Plessinger, Tom Vialle, and Julien Beaumer in the second phase of the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX).

Sexton was outstanding on his way to the 450MX title last season onboard the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, entering this year’s 11-round series as a title favorite and wearing the coveted number 1 plate. The 25-year-old Illinois native won seven rounds en route to the crown one year ago, motivated to pick up where he left off outdoors with a true READY TO RACE mentality.

Chase Sexton:« Preparation for the start of the 2025 Pro Motocross season is going well. I feel good and am healthy, so that’s a great start! There’s always a lot of industry talk about there being extra pressure when you come in as defending champion, but really for me, I just head into it the way I do any new season. I keep my head down, work hard, and trust the process. I’m excited for the new season to start this weekend at Pala. »

Joining Sexton in the premier class and also equipped with the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, Plessinger has finished third in the standings for the past two years running and landed on the podium a total of six times in 2024. With momentum increasing and a new Red Bull KTM Factory Racing contract already signed for 2026, The Cowboy’s focus is firmly placed on making his presence felt yet again in Pro Motocross.

Aaron Plessinger: « I’m super-excited for outdoors. It is my favorite series that we race and I’ve been doing motos, some testing, and everything’s coming together nicely. I’m super-stoked, ready to get back out on the gate and show these boys what I’ve got for the outdoor series! We finished well last year, could have really done some damage if I had not had some bad races – hopefully I can contend for the title this season. »

Already a two-time MX2 World Champion with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and now a double 250SX East title winner in AMA Supercross following Salt Lake City’s finale two weeks ago, French standout Vialle will lead the team’s 250MX charge alongside last year’s 250 Class Rookie of the Year, Beaumer.

Entering his third term of Pro Motocross in the United States riding the KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, Vialle is aiming to improve upon his P2 result achieved in the standings from last year, which he earned through racing to seven podiums and victory in Ironman’s final round of the season last August.

Tom Vialle:« I’ve been practicing outdoors for a little bit now, but didn’t switch early because I was fighting for another Supercross title. Last week was really good, we did some testing with the team and I am happy with where the bike is, and I feel really comfortable riding outdoors this year. I’m excited, becauseI think it’s going to be my last 250 outdoor season. I was able to win two MX2 titles in the world championship and have won the two 250SX East titles now, so this AMA 250MX championship is the only one that I am missing in my 250 career – I really want to fight for that one this summer and I’m motivated for that. I’m looking forward to seeing where we are at when we get to Pala and then for the whole summer outdoors. »

Teenage talent Beaumer spent last year learning the craft of professional competition on his way to the 250MX Rookie of the Year honors and, fresh from a breakout season in the 250SX West division where he established himself as a legitimate contender, the 19-year-old out of Lake Havasu, Arizona, has a clear target of now proving his capabilities outdoors on his KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.

Julien Beaumer: « I’m looking forward to kicking my season off strong at Pala. Southern California is where I have grown up riding, so I feel right at home racing there. My preparation has gone according to plan, and the team and I feel we are in a good place together, so I’m itching to get this thing started this weekend. »

Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager:« We are very excited to enter the Pro Motocross Championship with Chase and Aaron in 450MX, as well as Tom and Julien in 250MX this summer. Following Supercross, which was again a really positive and successful season for us as a team, it is always a mad rush to transition to the outdoors with the one weekend off in between. Thankfully, we have a lot to lean on from the previous years, so you generally use that experience as a base coming into Round 1, and then you continue to refine and build momentum from that point. It is always an exciting time, a lot of anticipation, and we are confident that we will be competitive when the gates drop this weekend and throughout the 2025 season. »

The 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship will drop the gates this Saturday, May 24, at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, for the season-opener, set to span 11 rounds throughout the U.S. this summer and culminating at Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland, on August 23.

TRIUMPH FACTORY RACING STORMS INTO 2025 PRO MOTOCROSS

Tue 20 May 2025

Triumph Factory Racing is set to take on the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship with a reinforced and competitive rider line-up, as the new season launches this weekend in Southern California. Jordon Smith and Austin Forkner return to action, aiming to build on the positives from their AMA Supercross campaigns. They’re joined by Stilez Robertson, who makes his return to racing after recovering from injury. Adding international strength to the roster is Danish talent Mikkel Haarup, bringing experience from the FIM MX2 World Championship and a clear focus on podium finishes.

Fox Raceway, Southern California, will act as the backdrop for 2025’s Pro Motocross opener. It was at that venue last year where Triumph’s TF 250-X finished in the top five of the 250 Class for the first time. The squad’s four active athletes will strive for similar success when action starts at 1:00 p.m. PST on Saturday, May 24. Jalek Swoll will miss the start of the outdoor season as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles.

Smith, who scored one moto podium en route to ninth in the 250MX championship last year, has never appeared on the overall podium in Pro Motocross and so capturing a maiden trophy remains high on his list of priorities as round one looms. The Triumph racer will push for regular appearances in the top five and aims to replicate his AMA Supercross successes this season.

Although Forkner has not raced in Pro Motocross since 2023, he has proven to be a force in the championship; the 26-year-old has finished in the top 10 in 71% of his 250MX starts and is a former winner in the class. The momentum and knowledge gained in supercross will prove to be valuable as he charges towards the 250MX podium once again.

Like Forkner, Robertson returns to Pro Motocross after missing the previous term. It was just six starts ago that the 23-year-old captured his maiden 250MX podium and so he’ll call upon that experience as he reacclimatizes to the gruelling conditions that riders face as the championship storms across the United States.

Haarup, a newcomer to the United States and Pro Motocross, must adapt to new circuits and conditions, but his résumé in the FIM Motocross World Championship speaks for itself. Seven MX2 podiums, including Triumph’s first in off-road, mean that he is no stranger to chasing trophies and championships. Haarup swaps his traditional number for ‘107’ as he strives for more success aboard the American-spec TF 250-X.

Starting in Southern California, 2025 Pro Motocross will begin with three rounds on the West Coast before heading to the East Coast. The 11 rounds and 22 races will crown a champion and finalise seeding for the SMX World Championship playoffs.

Jordon Smith

“I am really excited to start the Pro Motocross season. 2024 was my first full outdoor season in a few years – I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I am looking to come into this season and start where I left off, by being a consistent front runner. My first goal to check off is to get an overall podium. I have felt really strong on my TF 250-X, so I think that we can definitely take care of that goal sooner rather than later!”

Austin Forkner

“I am excited to get the outdoor season started and see where we stack up. I felt like we built momentum towards the end of the supercross season, so I want to keep that up. Pala is not my favourite track but I have done lots of laps there over the years and I am excited to be back in the paddock and progressing forwards even further.”

Stilez Robertson

“It’s great to be back racing – I’m looking forward to being behind the gate and getting back into it! My wrist is back to 100% and I have had a couple weeks back on the bike. I am looking forward to a good outdoor season and getting my mojo back.”

Mikkel Haarup

“It’s definitely an exciting week, and I can’t wait to make my debut in the Pro Motocross series here in the United States. My preparation for the season has been good. It has been a fairly smooth transition into the training here, and the same goes for my set-up on the bike, which is a little different due to the racing rules in the AMA series. Coming into this I had an idea on what sort I direction I wanted to go, and with the help from the team and Drew the suspension mechanic, I feel like we have hit that target pretty good. I’m sure we’ll be able to fine tune when we’re in race mode, as other than a few warm-up events, it’s been a while since I’ve raced at that level. While training has gone really well, there is going to be a lot to learn and understand; I don’t know any of the tracks and the format is different with a lot less track time than I am used to. It’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to!”

Jeremy Coker – General Manager, Triumph Racing America

“After getting our first win and a few podiums in supercross, we are very excited for Pro Motocross. We have four healthy riders entering round one – they are very prepared – and then Jalek will return at around the halfway mark. Progressing each week will be our goal, as well as appearing in the top five and contending for a spot on the podium. We’re really looking forward to getting going this weekend.”

AARON PLESSINGER AND RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING TO RACE-ON TOGETHER IN 2026

SMX Announcement

MURRIETA, Calif. – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has re-signed Aaron Plessinger for the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX), inclusive of the AMA Supercross Championship and Pro Motocross Championship. This latest contract extension between the pair signifies what will be a fifth-consecutive season together next year.

The Cowboy’ will race-on with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team managed by Ian Harrison, continuing what has been a successful collaboration. Plessinger will once again be READY TO RACE in the high-profile American series, equipped with the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.

With a single round remaining in Supercross 2025, fan favorite Plessinger sits sixth position in the 450SX championship standings and with five podiums to his credit. That tally is underscored by a popular second-career premier class victory at the Foxborough round in April, building momentum throughout the 17-round duration.

The 29-year-old Plessinger first joined Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in 2022 and has firmly established himself as one of the sport’s most popular and competitive riders both indoors and outdoors. He has finished P3 in 450MX for the past two seasons and has also scored top-five finishes in the 31-round SMX World Championship series both of those years – fifth in 2023 and fourth in 2024.

In addition to his success in the United States, Plessinger has represented Team USA at the FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN) on two occasions (2023-2024) since signing with KTM. The Ohio native’s highlight came last year at Matterley Basin in the United Kingdom, where he stood second on the Nations podium as the American team’s Open Class entry.

Aaron Plessinger:« It means everything to me to be part of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing for 2026. I love everybody and everything about this team, it’s been an awesome four years together already, and it’s flying by, but we’re having such a good time. We’ve had some really, really good results, so to have the team want to keep me around and keep going together, it’s really special to me. I can’t wait for what the future brings and my focus right now is to get the best results that I can with the team. To build the fanbase that we have is really special as well, because without them and their support we wouldn’t be anything. It’s always cool to meet our fans, to interact with the KTM Junior Supercross kids and their families at the races, and that’s what dirt bikes are all about. To get people on the bikes that we ride and to become KTM riders themselves, it’s why we do what we do each race weekend, to give them that added spark and interest in the sport. I’m super-excited for the remainder of this season and now into next year! »

Ian Harrison – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager:« Looking back on Aaron’s career here at KTM as we move into his fifth year with the brand next year, it’s clear how much of an impact he has had. He is more than just a racer, he is an incredible competitor on the track and a huge personality off it as well. From his long hair and cowboy hat to his unique riding style, Aaron truly stands out. He is, and will continue to be, a massive part of the KTM fanbase into 2026. He brings energy, positivity, and authenticity that resonate not only with our team and the other riders, but also with fans, sponsors, and the entire racing series. He’s had another incredible season this year after a rough start, showing grit and determination, achieving five podiums and consistent top-five finishes so far, including a victory in Foxborough. We’re proud of who he is and even prouder to have him on our team. His influence extends far beyond results – his connection with people, both inside and outside the paddock, ensures he will be remembered and appreciated for years to come. He is truly one of a kind, and we are excited that Aaron has signed a contract extension for 2026 to continue racing for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing family. »

Dean Wilson to Race Honda HRC Progressive CRF450RWE

  • Scottish native will compete in the final five rounds of AMA Supercross
  • Hunter Lawrence expected to return for AMA Pro Motocross

TORRANCE, Calif. (April 1, 2025) – Honda HRC Progressive announced today that Dean Wilson will campaign the factory CRF450RWE race machine for the last five rounds of the 2025 AMA Supercross season, beginning with the April 12 event in Philadelphia.

The squad has fielded a 250-only effort in AMA Supercross since Hunter Lawrence withdrew for shoulder surgery following the February 8 Tampa round (Jett Lawrence had pulled out for knee surgery one week earlier). Hunter hopes to return to action in time for the AMA Pro Motocross series, which starts on May 24 in Pala, California. Since his surgery, Jett has been dedicated to his recovery, which is going extremely well, and he hopes to be racing as soon as possible.

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Wilson is a veteran of elite-level U.S. racing, having earned the 2011 250 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Recent seasons have seen him contesting a variety of series, winning the 2023 Australian Supercross Championship in the SX1 division while racing for Yarrive Konsky’s Honda Racing Australia team.

Early this year, Wilson raced for the British St. Blazey Honda team in the UK Arenacross Tour, which he won. He had intended to race five rounds of the AMA Supercross series for the Konsky-owned, Martin Davalos-managed Quad Lock Honda team, but will instead race for the Lars Lindstrom-managed factory squad.

“I’m just really excited and grateful for this opportunity,” said Dean Wilson (also known by his alter ego, Grandpa Earl). “It certainly wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card! It came through unfortunate circumstances, with the Lawrence brothers getting injured. I was on the other side of the pond in the UK, and I shot Lars a text, saying I would be interested. I eventually got a call that it will happen for the last five. I’ve always wanted to ride this bike and be a part of this team, so I kind of feel like a little kid again, to be honest—just over the moon! I’m thankful that Yarrive and Martin were very understanding.”

Wilson began supercross testing with Honda HRC Progressive last week, three weeks ahead of his debut with the squad. In the meantime, Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas continue to represent the team in the 250SX class, campaigning the CRF250RWE in the West and East Regions, respectively.

“On behalf of American Honda, I’d like to welcome Dean to Honda HRC Progressive for the final part of AMA Supercross,” said Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda. “Obviously, we’ve missed having the Lawrences racing out of our truck for much of this season, but we’re happy to see them progressing well and hope to have them back in action soon. In the meantime, it will be great to have Dean showcasing the CRF450RWE. I’d like to thank Yarrive and Martin at Quad Lock Honda for their flexibility in order to make this happen.”

TRIUMPH FACTORY RACING ANNOUNCES CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR JALEK SWOLL

Mon 17 Mar 2025

Triumph Factory Racing is excited to announce the extension of its partnership with talented American racer Jalek Swoll through 2026. Although currently sidelined due to injury, Swoll is expected to make a full recovery and return to racing during this summer’s Pro Motocross series. Swoll is looking forward to regaining his strong form aboard the TF 250-X. Once the season concludes, he will shift his attention to preparing for the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship.

Last year marked the first season of racing for Triumph Factory Racing in AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross, with Swoll clearly demonstrating the capabilities of the new TF 250-X and his own skills throughout 2024. By placing sixth at the 250SX East season opener in Detroit, the Floridian set the tone for a positive year, ultimately finishing an impressive seventh overall in the final standings.

When the Pro Motocross series kicked off in California two weeks later, Swoll carried his indoor speed outdoors and charged to a stunning fifth overall to further highlight both his talent and the competitiveness of his machine. Jalek then made history at round nine of the championship where the 24-year-old claimed third overall at Unadilla, New York, to mark the first overall podium result for the Triumph TF 250-X in AMA competition.

Now, with the recovery from his Achilles injury going well, Swoll remains focused on returning to full fitness ahead of his anticipated return to competition later this year.

Jalek Swoll

“I’m super-excited to announce my contract extension with Triumph Factory Racing. I’m also really proud of what we’ve achieved together since I joined the team and I’m excited to keep building on what we’ve delivered so far. I was in a really good place with my speed before my injury this off-season and I was ready to contend for wins, so when I’m back racing the goal remains the same. Being offered a contract extension while being injured isn’t something I’m taking for granted and I can’t wait to be back at the races with the team and showing everyone what we can do.”

Jeremy Coker – General Manager, Triumph Racing America

“The team is really excited to extend its partnership with Jalek. During the pre-season he was on track to show people what he’s capable of so it was really unfortunate that he got injured. Looking forwards, this new extension through to the end of 2026 with Jalek staying on the TF 250-X gives him plenty of time to fully recover and get back to racing when he’s 100%. Rehab of his Achilles injury is on track, but it’s something that you can’t really rush and at this stage we’re hopeful he’ll be back for the second half of Pro Motocross. Then together we can look forward to a full season of SMX next year. Overall, everyone involved is excited to have Jalek continue racing with us and I’m looking forward to seeing him back in action.”

Ian Kimber – Head of Global Racing Programmes, Triumph Motorcycles

“I’m really pleased to sign Jalek for another year with the Triumph Factory Racing team. He was an integral part of our first season and helped showcase what the bike could do. His off-season training was going incredibly well, and we were all looking forward to seeing how he could build on his inaugural season with us. Unfortunately, his Achilles injury during pre-season training meant we never got to see his potential on track this year. However, we’re fully supporting him through his recovery and return to race pace, and we hope to see him back on track for Pro Motocross — once again proving what he is capable of aboard the TF 250-X.”

TRIUMPH FACTORY RACING UNVEILS UNIQUE ST JUDE’S LIVERY FOR INDIANAPOLIS SUPERCROSS

Thu 06 Mar 2025

Triumph Factory Racing is proud to unveil its unique livery for the Indianapolis East/West 250SX Showdown this weekend. As part of AMA Supercross’ support campaign for the St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and thanks to a design created by one of its patients, Ty, the TF 250-X will be displayed with a truly special one-off look for the race event.

Each year the Supercross paddock pledges allegiance with St Jude’s for one of its races, with the ‘Love Moto Stop Cancer’ charity campaign. Triumph is proud to have created something extra special for this weekend’s event with its bike and gear design in tribute to the children receiving treatment at the hospital, which has its headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. Thanks to a painting by young patient, Ty, who had created a beautiful piece of artwork around the theme of ‘Hope’, which coincidentally Triumph had proposed for its St Jude’s livery this year, the scheme incorporates the pink colours synonymous with a number of Cancer charity campaigns. This includes a galactic finish, and it’s an incredibly unique look for the factory TF 250-X. Graphics partner SKDA have been working hard behind the scenes to directly translate Ty’s design to areas of the bike, while also including some special shoutouts for Ty and a young patient in the UK known to Triumph called Noah.

Also featured on the bike are the logos of the Francis Crick Institute, which is Europe’s largest biomedical research Institute under one roof. The Institute was established by bringing together a selection of research labs to be a UK flagship for discovery research in biomedicine. It is named after UK scientist Francis Crick in recognition of his contributions to research of the genetic code, the key to understanding how living things work. The Bloor Group, the owners of Triumph Motorcycles, have a long history of supporting the Crick Institute, which has collaborated with St Jude’s previously. The institute’s logos are featured on the bike this weekend along with that of Cancer Research UK.

Whilst much has been done to raise awareness and money for research in tackling cancer overall, there is much less focus on the research of paediatric cancers. Thankfully, cancer in children is still relatively rare, although it is the leading cause of death in teenagers and receives much less attention than it requires. Both The Francis Crick Institute and Cancer Research UK are hoping to change this, which hopefully would in future benefit patients at the likes of St Jude’s hospital. This annual Supercross campaign for St Jude’s, one of the leading specialist hospitals for the treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases, with the threads running through to charities in the UK, is incredibly important to the Triumph family.

Lining up in Indianapolis for the East/West Showdown will be Austin Forkner, who will be hoping to continue improving his form in his first season for Triumph Factory Racing, while Jordon Smith unfortunately will sit out of proceedings as he recovers from injury. Both of the specially designed TF 250-X’s will be on display in the Triumph awning.

Ian Kimber – Head of Global Racing Programmes, Triumph Motorcycles
“The Indianapolis round is one of the most important rounds in the calendar for us. Not just because it’s the first East vs West showdown, but also because it’s the St Jude’s round. Childhood cancers and the fight for cures is a cause that definitely needs to have a spotlight thrown on it. This year we chose ‘Hope’ as the theme for our bike scheme, because I believe as parents this is what we’d need if our kids were ill, it’s what our kids would need – the hope to get better. Hunter Lawrence to Undergo Shoulder Surgery

  • Australian suffered torn labrum in right shoulder at Tampa Supercross
  • Initial recovery prognosis is 8-10 weeks

TORRANCE, Calif. (February 12, 2025) – Following an injury sustained during Saturday’s Tampa, Florida, round of AMA Supercross, Honda HRC Progressive 450SX rider Hunter Lawrence has been diagnosed with a raised and partially torn labrum in his right shoulder, along with multiple cracks in his humerus bone. He will undergo surgery on the labrum tomorrow, February 13, in Orange County, California, and because his expected recovery time is eight to 10 weeks, he is likely to miss the remainder of the Supercross season.

Lawrence’s injury occurred during his heat race, when he suffered a hard crash that prevented him from lining up for the main event. Evaluation this week confirmed the labrum issue, and while the normal healing time is typically about the same, surgery was deemed the best course of action for ensuring a full and stable recovery.

With Hunter sidelined, and brother Jett still out recovering from recent knee surgery, Honda HRC Progressive will continue its 2025 AMA Supercross campaign with a 250SX-based effort, with Chance Hymas continuing in the 250SX East division this weekend in Detroit, and Jo Shimoda resuming 250SX West action on February 22 in Arlington, Texas.

“I’m going to get this fixed and come back 100%, to go and battle for the outdoor and SMX title again,” Hunter said. “Thank you to all my amazing partners, who continually are the reason all this is possible. We will get this 2025 turned around soon enough. See you at select upcoming races.”

“We’re all very sorry for Hunter, especially considering the effort he and the team have put into this season,” said Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda. “Following some early challenges, Hunter was showing solid speed and even better promise; once he’s back to full strength, we know he’ll be out there again, fighting hard near the front. Racing can be cruel, and there’s no denying that 2025 has been particularly tough on our team so far, with all our riders affected by injury in some way. That said, we’ve had a couple of years of unprecedented success, and we’ll work hard together to get back on that trend soon.”

Jeremy Coker – Directeur général, Triumph Racing America

« Quelle nuit incroyable !

Nick Bloor – PDG, Triumph Motorcycles

« Quel grand moment pour Triumph ! Jordon se tenant sur la première marche témoigne du dévouement de tout notre personnel qui travaille sur nos projets tout-terrain. L’équipe a travaillé incroyablement dur pour en arriver là et cette victoire est le résultat de tous leurs efforts. Félicitations à toute l’équipe Triumph ! »

Jett Lawrence to Undergo Surgery to Repair Torn ACL

  • Reigning AMA Supercross Champion injured right knee at Glendale Supercross
  • Recovery prognosis is still unknown

TORRANCE, Calif. (February 3, 2025) – Following an injury incurred during Saturday’s Glendale, Arizona, round of AMA Supercross, Honda HRC Progressive rider Jett Lawrence was diagnosed today with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, and he will undergo surgery tomorrow.

Early in the third race at the Glendale Triple Crown, Lawrence dabbed his right foot in a corner to maintain his balance, and immediate pulled off the track in pain. An initial visit to the Alpinestars Mobile Medical unit didn’t reveal any serious injury, but an MRI scan today revealed that Lawrence had suffered a torn ACL, as well as a small tear to his meniscus. He is scheduled to undergo an operation tomorrow morning in Orange County, California.

Having been credited with an eighth-overall result in Glendale, Lawrence currently now sits fifth in the AMA Supercross 450 title chase, but this setback will effectively end his chance of a successful title defense. His recovery prognosis isn’t yet known.

“I found out today that I tore my ACL and am having surgery tomorrow to repair it,” Jett said. “I’m not exactly sure when I’ll be able to return, but rehabbing will be my new fulltime job, so I hope to see you guys as soon as possible! I’m super-bummed to let the fans down, and I can’t wait to get back out there.”

“We’re all absolutely gutted for Jett, as we had high hopes for him winning another Supercross title this season,” added Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda. “After some misfortune at round 1, his speed has been very impressive, as he scored a main-event win at round 3 and sat in first overall after the first two races at the Glendale Triple Crown. Injuries are a part of racing though, and everyone at Honda is pulling for Jett to have a successful surgery and a good recovery. We know this is just a speedbump and that Jett will be back as strong as ever. In the meantime, we look forward to continuing to provide our full support to our active riders.”

Honda HRC Progressive is back in action this weekend at the Tampa, Florida, AMA Supercross round, with Hunter Lawrence campaigning the 450SX division. The event marks the opening round of the 250SX East series; Chance Hymas will make a late decision on whether to participate, as he continues to recover from his own ACL surgery.

TRIUMPH RACING FACTORY TEAM ENTERS A1 WITH JORDON SMITH AND STILEZ ROBERTSON

Thu 09 Jan 2025

With Triumph Racing Factory Team’s Jalek Swoll suffering from an unfortunate pre-season injury in the lead up to the 2025 AMA SuperMotocross World Championship, the squad will now be represented by Jordon Smith and Stilez Robertson at the opening round in Anaheim, California.

Entering his second season with Triumph Racing Factory Team, Swoll was eager to build upon his successful 2024 campaign. Initial symptoms indicate a tendon injury, although Jalek will now undergo further detailed medical analysis and a full diagnosis will be given in due course. Frustratingly, the unfortunate injury may rule the likeable Floridian out of 250SX East action, so Austin Forkner switches coasts from West to East with Stilez Robertson now set to make his Triumph Racing Factory Team debut this weekend inside Angel Stadium.

Everyone at Triumph Racing Factory Team wishes Jalek a fast recovery while at the same time, looks forward to the 2025 season kick off on January 11.

Jeremy Coker – General Manager, Triumph Racing America

“This is a very unfortunate injury for Jalek as he was riding very well and I do believe this will just be a small speed bump for him and he will return stronger than ever. Triumph and the team will be here ready to go for him when he returns to form.”

Ian Kimber – Head of Global Racing Programmes, Triumph Motorcycles

“It’s a real shame for Jalek to be injured this close to the season, especially after seeing how well he had been riding in off-season practice. He was the backbone of the team last year, and I’m hopeful he makes a speedy recovery, so we can see him step it up again this year. Swapping coasts for Austin and Stilez will ensure that we have the best representation on the gate possible, and continue to build on the successes we had last year.”

TRIUMPH RACING AMERICA APPOINTS JEREMY COKER AS GENERAL MANAGER

Fri 13 Dec 2024

Triumph Racing America is excited to welcome Jeremy Coker as its new General Manager. Renowned for his extensive experience in team management, Coker brings a wealth of expertise to the Triumph brand. The 35-year-old will utilise this experience to develop Triumph’s amateur, contingency, and off-road programmes, in addition to overseeing the efforts of the Triumph Factory Racing team competing in the SuperMotocross World Championship.

With 15 years of experience in the AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross paddocks, Coker has enjoyed an incredibly successful career. In 2014, he joined Star Racing as a mechanic and later that year he progressed to an in-house role as Engine Technician while assisting with motorcycle R&D. After being appointed as Crew Chief for 2019 and 2020, Jeremy became Team Manager from 2021 until the end of the 2024 season. During his time at Star Racing, the team achieved remarkable success, securing 14 titles.

Coker’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment as Triumph prepares for the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship, set to begin in just over four weeks. His championship-winning expertise and history of building successful teams will be instrumental in shaping Triumph’s future in off-road racing.

Jeremy Coker – General Manager, Triumph Racing America

“I am very excited to join the Triumph family. This opportunity is something I have worked towards my entire life. I intend to put my heart and soul into building a programme that every top rider and up-and-coming rider wants to be a part of. I am looking forward to growing with Triumph Factory Racing together, as they are only one year into their dirt bike side of motorcycle racing. I joined this program because I believe that the Triumph family and I can create a true masterpiece. We have a big challenge that lies ahead of us, but with the team that they have assembled already, I believe we will achieve greatness together and the sky is the limit.”

Ian Kimber – Head of Global Racing Programmes, Triumph Motorcycles

“Signing someone of Jeremy’s calibre to oversee our American racing efforts builds on the solid foundation that we have put in place over the last couple of years. Jeremy’s progression with his previous teams, and the success that he has built there will allow us to improve our SuperMotocross operation, whilst building out our amateur support and contingency programmes. These will be crucial steps to ensuring that we are building talent for the future, whilst delivering at the highest levels of racing. I’m excited to see how Jeremy’s leadership is going to help define the progression of Triumph Racing in America, and we all welcome him to our team!”

Honda HRC Progressive Ready for 2025 Season

  • Honda’s factory team has won five of six premier-class titles in the last two years
  • Rider roster again led by reigning AMA Supercross champ Jett Lawrence

TORRANCE, Calif. (December 12, 2024) – With the 2025 race season opener just over a month away, Honda HRC Progressive is ready to return to action following a short and busy off-season. The squad hopes to continue the momentum that has seen its riders take the sport’s premier title—the AMA Supercross 450 crown—two years in a row, most recently with Jett Lawrence, who last season was crowned champion in his debut attempt aboard a 450.

Lawrence, who also earned last season’s SuperMotocross 450 Championship, is set to return aboard the #1 2025 CRF450RWE, along with teammate and brother Hunter Lawrence. Now with eight professional AMA crowns to his name at just 21 years of age, Jett is arguably the top rider on the planet. Meanwhile, in his 2024 rookie season in the premier class, Hunter finished a very competitive second in both the 450 Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross standings. The brothers, who also collected the 2024 Motocross of Nations trophy for Team Australia, are among the favorites for race wins and titles in 2025.

Honda HRC Progressive’s quarter-liter program once again comprises Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas, both of whom will be aboard the all-new 2025 CRF250RWE. Campaigning the West Region, Shimoda is entering his second year with the squad, having turned in a steady 2024 with regular podium appearances. Shimoda, whose soft-spoken nature belies his on-track competitiveness, is the first Japanese rider to win an AMA 250SX main event, and the first Japanese rider to score overall wins in AMA Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross. Hymas, who will race in the East Region, earned his first AMA Pro Motocross overall win last season and is in good health following a string of injuries. He still has the speed that carried him to an exceptional amateur career, and he’s hungry to show his potential.

Along with the continuity in the rider lineup, a return of key staff inspires confidence heading into the new year. Team Manager Lars Lindstrom is again at the helm, supported by 450 and 250 crew chiefs Grant Hutcheson and Jordan Troxell, respectively. Christien Ducharme and Cameron Camera continue in their roles as 450 mechanics for Jett Lawrence and Hunter Lawrence, while Ben Griffith and Thomas Harris are once again spinning wrenches as 250 mechanics for Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas.

“The success that Honda HRC Progressive has enjoyed over the past couple of years has been impressive, but we’re always striving to do even better,” said Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing & Advertising at American Honda. “Fortunately, we’re able to keep together an incredible lineup of riders, and we have two very capable race bikes, plus a great group of sponsors that are always behind us. I’m confident that 2025 will just add to Honda’s spectacular heritage.”

“The 2024 season was unbelievable, with Jett winning the 450 Supercross and SuperMotocross titles, Hunter becoming a top 450 rider, both our 250 riders securing race victories, and Team Australia capturing their first Motorcross of Nations,” said Honda HRC Progressive Team Manager Lars Lindstrom. “Our crew has worked super-hard with all four of our riders to get our new bikes dialed in for the opener, and we can’t wait to get on the gate and see where we stack up. We love the progression our team has shown over the past couple of seasons, and I think 2025 will be one of our best yet.”

The AMA Supercross season kicks off with the first of 17 rounds on January 11 in Anaheim, California, followed by the 11-round AMA Pro Motocross series and the three-round SuperMotocross Championship.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing gains strength ahead of SMX 2025Malcolm Stewart and RJ Hampshire headline two-rider team for upcoming season

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing is embracing a focused approach for the 2025 season, entering the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) with an all-star two-rider team featuring 450 Class contender Malcolm Stewart and 250SX West Champion RJ Hampshire.

Throughout the coming season, Stewart will once again be onboard the Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition full-time. Hampshire will be out to defend his 250SX crown in the Western Region, equipped with the Husqvarna FC 250 Factory Edition. Both long-term representatives of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna, this race-proven two-rider combination sets the stage for an exciting 2025.

Stewart exhibited notable resilience in 2024, making a successful return from injury as he built momentum during 450SX, 450MX and 450SMX. His consistency led to 10th place in the final Supercross standings, sixth in outdoors, and 16th overall in the SMX post-season. Now, the seasoned 32-year-old is motivated to shift another gear heading into Anaheim 1.

“The 2025 season feels like a fresh start,” said Stewart. “It’s been a really productive off-season so far, everything is falling into place, and I’m coming off a great experience at the Paris Supercross last month. I’m working with an amazing team around me and I’m ready to kick off the year strong at A1.”

After clinching the 250SX West Championship in AMA Supercross this past season, Hampshire has his sights set on defending his number 1 plate, before making the transition to the 450 Class for the entire Pro Motocross Championship and into SMX. While a recent injury disrupted his preparations, Hampshire remains determined to succeed in 2025.

“I had a minor surgery on my wrist a few weeks ago, which was a bit of a setback, but I’m staying optimistic,” said Hampshire. “My goal is still to defend my title. We’ll set a clear plan for the season in the coming weeks and I’m really looking forward to getting back on the track.”

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team Manager, Nathan Ramsey, looks forward to the challenge ahead. Confident that the combined experience of Stewart and Hampshire will be a consistent threat this season, he and the team are rigorously preparing for a strong start to the new year.

“We’re all excited for the 2025 SMX season to kick off with Supercross in January,” said Ramsey. “This year, our two-rider line-up allows us to give RJ and Malcolm the dedicated attention they deserve, which will only help them push their strengths, address any challenges and truly maximize their potential.

“Malcolm had an incredible 2024 season – consistent, competitive and healthy across the SX, MX, and SMX series – and his off-season has built on that momentum. He’s physically and mentally ready, and we’re excited to see what he’ll achieve in 2025.

“RJ’s early injury was unfortunate, but we’re prioritizing his long-term success. We hope to get him lined up at Anaheim 1, but are not rushing it. If needed, we won’t hesitate to pivot our focus on the East Coast title. Whatever the strategy, our goal is to position both riders for success and good health.”

The Supercross series will drop the gates at the iconic Anaheim 1 opener on Saturday, January 11, 2025 for the first of 17 rounds of racing action before heading outdoors for 11 rounds of Pro Motocross starting Saturday, May 24. The competition will later culminate in a three-round SMX post-season through September. In total, 31 races will be featured on the 2025 schedule.

RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING CHARGING INTO 2025 SMX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON
SMX announcement

MURRIETA, Calif. – A returning four-rider Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team will feature Chase Sexton and Aaron Plessinger in the 450 Class alongside 250 Class duo Tom Vialle and Julien Beaumer in the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX), inclusive of the AMA Supercross, Pro Motocross and SMX Finals series.

Equipped with the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, the 31-round marathon will see 25-year-old Sexton out to reclaim the 450SX title that he earned in 2023, before he aims to defend his 450MX championship outdoors, and then will target a first-career 450SMX crown in the post-season. With a full season with Red Bull KTM complete, the pair are in a strong position to build upon their success together into the new year.

Chase Sexton:“We’re getting close to the season now and I had a good off-season, took around five weeks off of the bike, so I feel refreshed and we’ve made a lot of progress – compared to last year I’m in a much better spot for 2025. The goal this season is to win more races than last year, so I feel good, and I’m ready to start the season.”

Alongside Sexton, Plessinger, 28, is entering his fourth term with Red Bull KTM and is coming off the strongest season of his career in winning a Supercross Main Event in San Diego. ‘The Cowboy’ finished third overall in Pro Motocross, before racing to P4 at the conclusion of the SMX season. Those results mean that Plessinger will enter Anaheim 1 with confidence on his side and with even larger targets to achieve.

Aaron Plessinger:“I’m super-stoked for the 2025 season! I’m ready to start where we left off in Supercross last year, where I won my first Main Event, and I only think we’re going to get better this year. The bike’s good, I’m feeling strong both physically and mentally, so I’m ready to show these guys that I’m here to stick around and that it ain’t no game. I’m ready to see the fans and have a good time doing it!”

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s 250 line-up will once again be headlined by the exciting combination of 24-year-old Vialle – the reigning 250SX East Champion – and talented young American prospect Beaumer, each competing aboard the KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.

Already a two-time MX2 World Champion prior to his arrival in the United States, French standout Vialle will enter 2025 in search of a second 250SX title, while also firmly targeting his maiden American outdoor championship in 250MX. The Red Bull KTM rider placed runner-up in both Pro Motocross and SMX this year, showcasing his capabilities across the board during his second year being based in the U.S.

Tom Vialle:“Everything has been going good this off-season, I was able to win the Paris Supercross, and we have done a lot of testing with the team already. I’m really happy with the bike, the suspension, and also, we have some engine upgrades, so everything so far is working good together. I’m going into my third year of Supercross and was able to win the 250SX East Championship this year, and now I am working hard to try and defend it in 2025. I’m really happy to win my first title indoors and the goal is to win another one next season. It’s a little bit of extra pressure, but I wouldn’t say a lot.”

At 18 years of age, Beaumer is preparing to enter his second full season of professional competition after debuting with Red Bull KTM one year ago. He finished as Rookie of the Year in both 250SX and 250MX, before going on to capture a breakout 250SMX podium result during the SMX Playoffs. Added experience will be instrumental for ‘JuJu’ when the racing commences next season.

Julien Beaumer:“The off-season’s been going really good for me, I’m excited to get going, and the goal this year is to win. I’m in a spot right now where I’m confident that I have the fitness and speed to do that, because I’ve been feeling good on the bike and we’ve made a lot of progress. Last year I had speed, but I made quite a few rookie mistakes, so I have been learning to eliminate those and I’m confident that this upcoming season will be a lot better for me.”

Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager:“We’ve had a good off-season to prepare so far, and we are ready to start our second year with Chase, so hopefully we can expand on our success and get even better with him for 2025. Aaron had his best season ever this past year, and the plan is to improve on that too. Tom is the defending champion in 250SX East, it will be great to see the number 1 on our bike when the Eastern Region begins. Julien is going into his second season with us, so we are hoping that after a strong pre-season he will be in a position to really shine also. It’s always an exciting time leading up to Anaheim 1 and we are ready for the challenge ahead.”

Supercross will host its traditional opening round at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Saturday, January 11th, set to span 17 rounds. Teams will later turn their attention to the Pro Motocross Championship from Saturday, May 24th, at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, for an 11-round journey, before the three-round SMX Finals are due to take off in September.

TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES AND BOBBY HEWITT CONCLUDE PARTNERSHIP

Wed 20 Nov 2024

Triumph Motorcycles and Bobby Hewitt would like to announce that the two parties, who have been working together in the US SMX series, have mutually agreed to part ways.

Triumph would like to thank Bobby for his contribution in developing the foundations of the US SMX programme with Triumph, leading into the British brand’s first racing operation in off-road competition. The partnership celebrated the launch of Triumph Racing, including the brand’s debut season in AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross with the all-new TF 250-X. The Triumph Racing team earned a heat race win in 250SX and a podium in Pro Motocross with Jalek Swoll – moments that will remain in Triumph’s history.

Heading into 2025, as agreed by both parties, Bobby will step down as Team Principal of Triumph’s US Supercross and Pro Motocross activities with immediate effect. Triumph would like to wish Bobby all the best for the future.

Bobby Hewitt, HRH Racing

“I would like to thank Triumph Motorcycles for giving me the ability and opportunity to build the Triumph Motorcycles racing program from the ground up for the past two years.  Putting together a new team and rider line-up for the 2024 and 2025 SMX Race Season will forever be one of my greatest accomplishments. I especially want to thank the riders signed for the 2025 SMX Race Season, for believing in me and the programme.  I believe it is the strongest group of riders I have ever assembled, and I’m looking forward to seeing them succeed this coming race season. Now that the Triumph Racing programme and foundation have been established, it is time for me to explore new challenges and opportunities.  I would like to wish Triumph Motorcycles and the riders all the best in the future. »

THE STATE-OF-THE-ART TRIUMPH FACTORY RACING FACILITY: A FIRST LOOK

Fri 15 Nov 2024

« It is a one-stop shop for us to develop our race programme, as well as aspects of OEM development, » remarked Triumph’s Head of Global Race Programmes, Ian Kimber, whilst pondering the magnificent 160-acre facility that acts as a base for the Triumph Factory Racing SuperMotocross team in the USA.

Since its inception in tandem with Triumph’s off-road project, the compound has been developed to offer a platform where athletes and engineers can work side-by-side in pursuit of a relentless aim: perfection on the track. The state-of-the-art facility – which required a significant investment at the start of the movement – is specific to the demands of high-performance athletes. Having been kept largely under wraps until now, the gates to this extensive team base have been opened to established media members in conjunction with this week’s launch of the TF 450-RC.

The Triumph Factory Racing team hit milestones in its debut SuperMotocross World Championship season; a heat win in Monster Energy AMA Supercross and a podium in AMA Pro Motocross have been well publicised. Yet beyond competition and in the shadows, the compound has evolved into a robust facility that meets the day-to-day demands that the athletes and personnel encounter. Kimber – present at the TF 450-RC launch to understand the initial reaction to the new motorcycle – reflected on the extensive work that went into the project in a candid talk about Triumph’s east-coast hub.

« Everything that we do is considered – the compound in itself is a considered choice, » Kimber continued. « Much like everything else that we do, it is a development tool to have within our arsenal. No matter if that is from a racing or OEM development perspective. Yes, this is the home of Triumph Racing in North America – that does not mean that it is exclusive to the SMX World Championship team. We have had a Canadian team there this week, as well as Enduro star Jonny Walker and Mikkel Haarup. There is potential for our Supersport riders to train there in the winter too. »

To construct a compound when the off-road project was in its infancy was non-negotiable, despite the investment required, as Kimber explains. « We needed a base where our athletes could train and our team could be located as one entity. It also allows us to develop our bikes in an environment that is locked down and secure, which was critical when we were developing our race bikes ahead of the OEM bike reveal. Having our own compound has enabled us to develop in a swift manner.

« It reinforces our commitment to the project. All of the top teams have their own facilities – or facilities that are on a long-term lease – and we knew that we had to do that in order to be competitive. This is not a vanity exercise, where we want to look serious to outsiders, it is about having the correct tools to do the job at hand – that is and always will be our priority. » This is crucial in the winter period; Triumph’s four-man SMX World Championship team is hard at work in preparation for the 2025 season and can rely on the vast amenities in Georgia.

« The compound includes two supercross tracks, a turn track and whoops track, two motocross tracks and around six miles of wood sections. There is a race shop there at the moment, but that is expandable to house off-road teams in the future, and there is a separate dyno building as well; the rolling road, engine dyno and suspension dyno are based in there. I must not overlook the beautiful red Georgia dirt – the riders seem to be most excited about that! There is a swimming pool and basketball court too, for good measure. »

Local racers dream of being able to enjoy a place as enticing as that, but Triumph riders around the world benefit from the work done there. The production bikes are put underneath a microscope at the compound – the rulebook that is followed in the SMX World Championship means that a close link between the production bike and race team is of vital importance. It is a facility as well-equipped as this that makes that possible and the end result is, of course, a better bike for weekend warriors to enjoy, no matter where their wheels hit the dirt.

We’re proud to reveal the first official images of Triumph’s US race facility, which has been a hugely important part of the overall off-road project.

TRIUMPH FACTORY RACING ANNOUNCE FOUR-MAN SMX TEAM

Thu 31 Oct 2024

Triumph Factory Racing is thrilled to announce that its SuperMotocross World Championship squad will expand ahead of its second year in the United States. Austin Forkner, Jordon Smith, and Stilez Robertson have joined Jalek Swoll to form a four-man team that boasts a wealth of podium experience.

Jalek Swoll returns to the team to build on his 2024 SMX World Championship success – capturing the TF 250-X’s first Monster Energy AMA Supercross heat win and an AMA Pro Motocross podium. The 24-year-old now aims for a maiden win for himself and the Triumph Factory Racing squad.

Missouri’s Austin Forkner, a 13-time winner in the 250SX class of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, joins the team with a fierce ambition to capture the professional title that has eluded him thus far. The 26-year-old has an impressive 31% win rate indoors, underscoring his quality and the performance he is expected to deliver aboard the TF 250-X.

Jordon Smith has underlined his potential in recent times and narrowly missed out on the 250SX West title in 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross – a loss that has fuelled him further as he strives to make history aboard a TF 250-X. Hailing from North Carolina, Smith joins the team with four 250SX wins to his name and 23 appearances on the podium.

Stilez Robertson is keen to showcase his raw skill when the 2025 SMX World Championship roars into life, as a series of injuries denied him of that chance across the last 12 months. Now, revitalised in his new environment, he is poised to build on the three Monster Energy AMA Supercross podiums that he has captured in 15 starts, as well as the one podium that he has scored in AMA Pro Motocross.

The 2025 SMX World Championship will start with round one of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Anaheim, Southern California, on January 11. Seventeen rounds of indoor action will follow before AMA Pro Motocross fires into life on May 24.

Jalek Swoll: « I am excited for my second season with Triumph Factory Racing – the plan is to tick off more of my goals and get that first win. I am so motivated to continue working with the great team that we have here. I am confident that it is going to be a successful year. I cannot wait! »

Austin Forkner: « I am super excited to be a part of Triumph Factory Racing. I am already so happy after just a couple of weeks of work with the team. I really like the team of personnel that has been put together here – I think it is going to be a brilliant year. Of course, I am motivated to capture their first SMX win. It would be huge for both the team and me! It will be a lot of fun, building together and working towards that point. »

Jordon Smith: « I am really happy to join the Triumph Factory Racing team, after watching the progress that the team has made in their first season. I have been on the bike for a couple of days and feel great – I am excited to work towards the team’s first win. I have had a good couple of years, so I feel like I am in a positive spot to battle for wins each weekend and ultimately the championship. I love the team that has been assembled here. Everyone here has the same mindset and ambition. »

Stilez Robertson: « I am so pumped to join the Triumph Factory Racing team. The bike has been amazing so far – this is an incredible group of people. There is a lot of history to be made with the team and I am excited to be a part of that. I would love to deliver their first win! I am so excited to move into the future with this team. »

Ian Kimber, Head of Global Racing Programmes: « Our rider line-up for the 2025 season underlines how serious we are with our SuperMotocross programme and our commitment to the sport and our off-road products.  We are focussed on building on our 2024 season and pushing hard in both Monster Energy AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross. Jalek did an amazing job under some difficult circumstances last year – I am excited for him to have new teammates in Jordon, Austin, and Stilez. I cannot wait to see what the team will do when the gate drops. »

Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer: « We learnt a lot during our first SuperMotocross season and are poised to build on those lessons during our 2025 season. The rider selection represents our desire to push our position within both the rider and manufacturer championships. Jalek showed everyone what the bike was capable of last year, and I am sure the whole team will be able to capitalise on the data we gained racing next year. It is great to welcome Stilez, Jordon and Austin to our U.S. programme alongside Jalek, and I am confident we are going to see some great racing.
