Maxime Renaux Withdraws from MXGP of Great Britain
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Maxime Renaux has withdrawn from the 12th round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship in Matterley Basin, England, following ongoing complications from a hip injury sustained at the MXGP of Switzerland in April.
Renaux arrived at the British Grand Prix determined to race and continue his pursuit of a podium position in this year’s MXGP Championship. However, persistent issues stemming from the injury led to increased pain and discomfort during this morning’s practice sessions.
After a thorough evaluation with the team’s physiotherapist, Renaux, Yamaha, and the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team collectively agreed that withdrawing from the event is the best decision to prioritize his recovery and long-term fitness.
An update on Renaux’s recovery and return to action will be provided on Yamaha-Racing.com as soon as further information becomes available.

Mattia Guadagnini to miss the MXGP of Great Britain • Mattia Guadagnini, injured during training, out for the MXGP of Great Britain

Without even falling, Mattia suffered a torn calf muscle that will require a two-week recovery period. Guadagnini should be able to return to competition for round 13th of the FIM Motocross World Championship, which will take place on July the 13th at the Kimy Ring in Finland.
Following consultation with all the key stakeholders, it has been decided to cancel the 2025 FIM Vintage Motocross World Cup, which was scheduled to be held at the Fernão Joanes circuit in Portugal over the weekend of 24-25 May.
The FIM, the FMP and the local organiser ACR Fernão Joanes would like to express its sincere appreciation to all parties who had pledged their supportfor this event and look forward to working with all concerned regarding planning for 2026.
More details will be announced in due course.
Romain Febvre closes the points gap with another podium
Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre moved closer to the points-lead in the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Frauenfeld in Switzerland with his fourth consecutive podium.
The Frenchman was closed down straight out of the gate in both GP motos but displayed true grit, racing through the pack each time to secure sixth- and second-placed moto finishes; his thirty-seven point haul earnt second overall on the day and, retaining his secure second place in the championship, he has significantly reduced the points-gap to the series leader to just twenty-seven points. He emerged ninth from turn one in the first moto but had already advanced to sixth on lap two. Overtaking proved extremely difficult for all of the riders on the ultra-fast raceway and a small tumble on the exit from a slick turn pushed him back to eighth temporarily before the Kawasaki rider struck back with great resolve to regain sixth with two outstanding passes. Lapping more than a second per lap faster than his rivals through the closing laps he had fourth in his sights on the final lap as time ran out to make further moves. He was again quickly on the move from an eighth-placed start in race two to take fifth on lap four and was soon involved in a three-way battle for third, which he decided in his favour on lap fourteen of twenty after two more enthralling passes. Three laps later he had closed down his next target to sweep into second, the position he held to the finish behind the race-long leader.
Romain Febvre: « I was again fast and felt good both days but it was a track where you needed to take a good start as it was tough to pass. I was riding good but with starts like today it’s not enough to fight for the victory. I think I was one of the few guys who could make passes but it was also a track where you had to really take care. You could make a huge mistake if you lost it for a split-second and many riders crashed, particularly in the second moto; I almost hit Guillod’s bike when he had a big one right in front of me and there were a lot of rocks as you can see by my nose. For sure I was pleased to take another podium but I want one more step! »

MXGP 2025 Round 6
Tough day for Honda HRC in Switzerland
After going second and third in race one, Honda HRC duo Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez were primed and ready to fight for the podium spots at the MXGP of Switzerland, however in an unfortunate string of events, both riders’ hopes were dashed, and the pair leave the Frauenfeld circuit extremely dejected with what happened.
In Saturday’s qualification race, Fernandez and Gajser looked in great form, going one-two and giving the whole team a big boost of confidence. However, after taking Easter Sunday off from racing, the Swiss GP resumed today where things took a turn for the worse. In race one, the pair got off to excellent starts, with the Honda CRF450R showing its power as the pair quickly moved into second and third. And on the tight, narrow and technical Frauenfeld circuit, that’s where they crossed the line, with speed and consistency keeping them clear of any major problems or battles.
Excited for race two and the opportunity of podium performances, the pair’s fortunes didn’t hold up as Fernandez was involved in a first turn crash, remounting in last position. Knowing that valuable championship points were at stake, he tried his hardest for the duration of the race, passing an incredible 25 riders in the 30 minutes to cross the line in 12thplace in what was an outstanding display from the Spaniard. Unfortunately unbeknownst to him, mid-way through the race, he had been knocked off the track and had to pass through pit-lane, where due to an incident in Trentino, he was more focused on re-joining the track in the correct position, than remembering one of the rules was that he had to come to a complete stop. This caused him to be disqualified, but due to the system in place, he only found out once he had completed the rest of the moto, meaning all his hard-work was for nothing.
Whilst racing, Fernandez was unfortunately passing his stricken teammate Gajser, who had had a crash early-on while trying to pass for the lead. The red-plate holder was thrown from his bike on a high-speed portion of the track, where due to his location, he had to wait a long time for medical assistance. Eventually the doctors got to the Slovenian and were able to take him to the on-site facilities where tests and exams took place to assess the situation. At this stage there is no definitive conclusion, but further tests will be done tomorrow, where Gajser – who still leads the 2025 MXGP Championship by 27 points – will be able to prepare himself for Portugal in two weeks’ time.
In the MX2 class, Valerio Lata showed his continued improvement by posting his highest points tally of the season, after ten-six results in a couple of hard-fought motos. After a holeshot in Saturday’s qualification, the #18 once again rocketed out of the gate in race two and gave himself the perfect opportunity to post his best GP results of the season. Despite battling against riders with far more experience, Lata showed great determination to finish in sixth place and give himself eighth overall.
Alongside him, Ferruccio Zanchi wasn’t able to quite match his teammate off the line and instead had to fight his way through the field. In race one, that meant coming from 30th to 14th in an impressive display of overtaking on the narrow circuit. In race two, things started off better, but he still had to come back from outside the top 15 to receive the chequered flag in 11th place. It’s still not where the Italian wants to be, but with a better starting position, the speed suggests he isn’t too far off the best riders in this highly competitive MX2 class.
After three GPs in a row, there is now a welcome break in the schedule as the team get one weekend off before making the trip to Agueda, Portugal in what is one of the better circuits on this 2025 world motocross championship calendar.

Tim Gajser 243
| Thursday 17 April 2025Aruba.it – Ducati Factory MX Team – Alessandro Lupino set to race at Frauenfeld in the Swiss Gp Alessandro Lupino set to race at Frauenfeld in the Swiss GP alongside Jeremy Seewer and with the Desmo450 MX of the Aruba.it – Ducati Factory MX Team
The nine-time Italian champion, currently competing in the Italian MX2 Championship with the prototype of the Desmo250 MX, will take to the track this weekend at Frauenfeld with the Desmo450 MX of the Aruba.it – Ducati Factory MX Team, in place of Mattia Guadagnini, who is still recovering from the accident in training prior to the GP of Sardegna.
The Veneto rider is scheduled to return to racing for the next GP of Portugal, scheduled for 3 and 4 May in Agueda.
Antonio Cairoli will race alongside Jeremy Seewer in the Monster Energy MXGP of Trentino, scheduled for April 12 and 13 on the “Il Ciclamino” circuit at Pietramurata (TN).
The nine-time world motocross champion, star of the Ducati World Premiere – Desmo450 MX will replace Mattia Guadagnini, who was injured in training last week in Sardinia, with the colours of the Aruba.it – Ducati Factory MX Team.
Antonio Cairoli “I enthusiastically accepted Ducati’s request to race in MXGP at Pietramurata as a replacement for Mattia Guadagnini, to whom I extend my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Even though I wasn’t expecting to return to racing so soon this year, I will use these few days that separate me from the Trentino GP to train and be in the best possible condition on 12 and 13 April. It will also be the perfect opportunity to greet all my fans and Ducati’s fans on the occasion of the launch of the production Desmo450 MX”.
Mathis Valin will miss Sardinia
The FIM Motocross World Championship is back to action this weekend in Sardinia for the first of three back-to-back GPs. Kawasaki Racing Team MX2’s Mathis Valin will miss the fourth round of the season as he still recovering from his hand injury.
One weekend off was not enough for Mathis to recover from the hand injury he sustained during the MXGP of Castilla la Manche. Mathis raced in pain at Saint Jean d’Angely two weeks ago and, in agreement with the Kawasaki Racing Team, he will sit out the MXGP of Sardinia this weekend. Last weekend was a good one for Kawasaki riders as Romain Febvre won the opening round of the Dutch Masters, while Bobby Bruce won the opening round of the British MX2 series and Francisco Garcia finished runner-up in the MX2 French Elite Championship. Romain Febvre and Pauls Jonass will represent Kawasaki in Sardinia, while the EMX250 riders will be back in action at Arco di Trento one week later. Antti Pyrhonen (KRT manager): “Injury is not welcome but it is not entirely unexpected. It’s early in the season and there are plenty of points and podiums ahead for Mathis so we have opted to get him back to full fitness as soon as possible rather than send him out at less than 100% in Sardinia.”
HERLINGS SET FOR FIRST 2025 MXGP APPEARANCE WITH ROUND FOUR IN SARDINIA ON THE AGENDA MXGP 2025 news
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing is anticipating a two-rider premier class line-up for the Grand Prix of Sardinia at the Riola Sardo circuit this week with MXGP icon Jeffrey Herlings edging closer to race fitness.
The most successful Grand Prix winner of all-time has been recovering from a right knee reconstruction performed in October 2024 and climbed back on his works KTM 450 SX-F three weeks ago. Herlings has been logging laps and motos as well as making modifications to his 2025 set-up to turn his attention to the international stage.
The 30-year-old five-times world champion has missed Grands Prix in Argentina, Spain and France but will now rejoin the series for his fifteenth world championship year and eighth in the premier class. He’ll link-up with teammate Lucas Coenen in the MXGP gate at the deep and rough sandy track where he has scored two wins and one podium finish in the last four seasons.

Training injury for Mattia Guadagnini in SardiniaThe factory rider of the Aruba.it-Ducati Factory MX Team had an accident yesterday during a training session in Sardinia ahead of the MXGP round of Riola Sardo. Immediately assisted by the team members on track, Mattia was then transported by ambulance to the Oristano Hospital and subjected to clinical examinations that revealed six clean break to the left ribs as well as various bruises, but without serious complications. Guadagnini will remain hospitalized in Oristano for a few more days and will then have to observe a period of recovery. Convalescence timing of the 22 years old will be defined after a further medical check-up next week.
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Maxime Renaux has confirmed that he is currently recovering from a broken right hand sustained during a training session prior to the second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Cozar, Spain.
Renaux began his 2025 MXGP title campaign with an impressive victory at the opening round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Córdoba, Argentina. However, during the week leading up to the second round in Cozar, he experienced a training incident that resulted in two broken metacarpal bones in his right hand. The injury required immediate medical attention, and Renaux underwent successful surgery to plate the bones in Belgium.
After receiving the green light from his doctor confirming that it was safe to race without risking further damage, Renaux made the decision to race at the MXGP rounds in Cozar and his home Grand Prix in Saint Jean d’Angely, France. While his results at these two rounds may not reflect his true potential, given the circumstances, his performance has been remarkable. The 24-year-old Frenchman managed to salvage 64 valuable points and currently sits third in the MXGP Championship Standings.
Renaux now enters a two-week recovery period before the MXGP of Sardegna, scheduled to take place in Riola Sardo, Sardinia on April 5-6. His medical team anticipates significant improvement during this period and will continue working closely with him to ensure he returns to full strength as soon as possible.
Maxime Renaux Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider
« I broke two metacarpal bones during training on Tuesday before the race in Spain. I underwent surgery, and since then, I’ve been through a lot. I fought with everything I had to stay in this championship, and that’s what we managed to do. My results are far from my true potential, but considering the situation, it’s still a miracle that I could be on the gate at all. We’re three rounds down, with 17 more to go. I wish I could have performed better and ridden to my full potential, but I was limited. I now have two more weeks to recover, which should be enough time for me to get closer to 100% shape for the race in Sardinia.”
MARC-ANTOINE ROSSI FACING A SPELL ON THE MX2 SIDELINES AFTER RIGHT SHOULDER INJURY MXGP 2025 news
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marc-Antoine Rossi will have surgery to repair damage to his right shoulder next week and will immediately start the rehab process in order to return to FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship duty.
The promising French youngster suffered a dislocation of the joint after a fall while training last Friday (7 March). The 18-year-old had a thorough medical check at the hospital in Lyon where an operation was decided to repair a fracture as the best course of action, and for a proper recovery to full strength. The procedure will take place on Monday 17 March.
Rossi, who admirably dealt with a knee injury that curtailed his 2024 Grand Prix campaign, is now focused on the tightest possible time frame to get back to the MX2 field and join teammates Andrea Adamo, Sacha Coenen and Simon Laengenfelder for the second half of the season.

Antti Pyrhönen: “The 250 project brings added value to our team”
For the first time in the long history of the FIM Motocross World Championship, Kawasaki will be represented this season with a factory effort in both the MX2 and MXGP classes. Prior to the opening round in Argentina we chatted with Antti Pyrhönen, the manager of the Kawasaki Racing Team whose team principal is former Formula 1 champion Kimi Räikkönen.
Since last summer, when Kawasaki Motors, Ltd. officially announced that they would enter the MX2 World Championship the Kawasaki Racing Team, which will guide this new project, had a busy winter to prepare for the 2025 season. “The team structure has grown quite a bit, with a second team which is KRT MX2 alongside KRT MXGP, so this has been a very intense winter for us even if we started our preparation already mid-way through last season. Indeed there has been a lot of planning and a lot of work to implement those plans but everything has been very positive; we have the knowledge and technical ability to progress even further, and we have the capacity to continue to build with both teams. Our progress is very positive,” explained Antti who now has a staff of twenty-two team members entering the new season.
Two challenges The team faced multiple tasks throughout the winter; to develop the new KX250-SR Kawasaki, and to adapt the KX450-SR to the new FIM regulations, in particular the new noise limit (111dB max instead of 114dB). “The 250 development has been challenging; we have endeavoured to create a very professional structure and to approach the development from every angle; at first it was important to know the standard bike, and then step-by-step to develop various directions together with the rider. We are tackling this methodically which means that we can control each step to optimise performance whilst maintaining reliability. For sure it has been challenging, but once again it brings added value to our team as we have been able to commit even more great technical people to our project, and this gives added technical value to both the MX2 and MXGP programmes. Regarding the 450 programme there is a new FIM sound regulation, which is of course very positive as it is very important to reduce the noise for our sport so we can keep tracks open and alive. This aspect is positive; of course this sound regulation affects power a little, but the riders’ comment have been very positive right from the beginning,” added the KRT Manager, who has enjoyed full support from factory staff in Japan all winter. “For the 250 technical development and as well for the 450 technical update and monitoring we enjoy a very close cooperation with KMC staff in Japan. Once again they have been present at all our 2025 tests; they were with us at the MX of Nations last autumn and stayed with us as we had some very intensive 2025 testing. The KMC staff came back to Europe for our winter testing on Sardinia, and it was a very intense, close and productive cooperation day-after-day. We are very fortunate that we can work so closely with the factory, giving us the opportunity and knowledge to keep improving.”.
A mix of experience and new blood While Romain Febvre remains for the sixth year in-a-row as the leader of the squad the Kawasaki Racing Team welcome two new riders with French youngster Mathis Valin and former MX2 World Champion Pauls Jonass. Crowned European 250 Champion last season, Mathis will make his GP debut in Argentina. “To work with a young kid like Mathis Valin is absolutely a privilege! It has been really great because it gives an even bigger boost to me and the complete team to see his talent and motivation for everything; he is so excited in every training session! Everybody in the team sees his talent and to have this level of talent is very rare; maybe it happens once every ten years and to be part of his career and to help him is really great for us! As a person he is very respectful; he keeps his feet firmly on the ground but he is also confident enough to work with us, and it’s very important that he feels confident. Concerning Pauls he is a really professional rider who knows his job, knows his training, and knows how to do the testing. We are really happy to have him in the team; he’s a great rider with great potential, has a great work ethic and is a real gain for the team. Romain continues to be a huge motivation; he has so much experience whilst retaining a vibrant enthusiasm. Each year we work with him we learn more about each other and our working relationship gets better and better. Of course it’s important for him to manage the season, the pressure and the expectations. Everybody knows what he can deliver but we approach the season working one GP at a time; we know how unpredictable our sport can be and we’ll give our best at each and every race. All of the boys have been really motivated, they know their job and we are super happy to have all three riders in the team; the boys are also standing behind the team and we have a truly great and professional atmosphere in the team. Everybody support each other to reach our common goals,” added Antti, who remains confident in the build-up to the first gate-drop of the GP season. “There is a big effort from everyone, including KME and KMC, and I want to thank everybody for their commitment and effort. Let’s continue and enjoy every moment! »
MONSTER ENERGY TRIUMPH FACTORY RACING FIRED-UP FOR MXGP 2025
Wed 26 Feb 2025
Almost one year on from Mikkel Haarup scoring Triumph’s first ever podium result at round one of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship, Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing has safely arrived in Argentina, ready to kick off the 2025 season. With the returning Camden McLellan and new signing Guillem Farres set to compete aboard the proven TF 250-X, the talented duo have the machinery and team behind them to deliver a successful campaign.
In 2024, McLellan placed an impressive ninth overall in the final FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship standings. The South African’s season-best finish of third overall came at round three atthe bottomless sand track of Riola Sardo in Sardinia, underlining his speed, fitness, and the capability of his TF 250-X. An unfortunate injury one month later forced him to miss six Grands Prix but once he returned to racing, he became a continual top five threat and picked up two more moto podium results. Now, with a restructured training program and improved race bike for 2025, McLellan is poised to challenge for the MX2 title.
Since joining Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing in October, Farres has settled into his new surroundings very quickly and soon began fine-tuning his machine with the team in southern Spain. Despite possessing racing experience in both Europe and the USA, 2025 marks Farres’ first full season of racing in MX2. Undeniably, the young Spaniard is eager to impress and ensure his name features at the top of the results on a regular basis throughout the new campaign.
After the 2025 racing season kicks off in Argentina this weekend, the MX2 Motocross World Championship calendar takes Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing to 17 other countries spread over four continents, with the 20th and final round taking place in Darwin, Australia, on September 21.
Camden McLellan:
“I’m feeling good after a really productive off-season. With the team we’ve done a lot of testing and made some great improvements with the bike. I’ve also changed up my training program, and I now work with Clement Desalle for both on-bike and off-bike training, so I’m looking forward to putting what we’ve done together to the test in Argentina and beyond. As always, the goal for the season is to be up front but at the first round it’s really important to stay calm and not take too many risks as we have a long year ahead of us. I’ve had a really good winter with the team and now I can’t wait to get the new season started.”
Guillem Farres:
“My pre-season testing and training has been really good and I’m excited to get the new season underway. Since I joined the team, everyone has made me feel really welcome and we’ve all put in a lot of hard work over the winter. Once I got comfortable on the bike, which didn’t take too long, I haven’t really changed much at all. We then rode at a lot of different tracks in the sand, mud, and hard pack, and I feel great on the bike. This year is my first in MX2 and I know it will be a tough one with a lot of races and we’ll go to many places that I’ve never been to before. So that’s exciting for me and I know that if I can ride to my potential then the results will come. For the opening round it’s quite good that we’re going to a new track as no one will have an advantage there, and my goal is to put good points on the board.”
Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager:
“Our winter training has been really positive. Camden and Guillem get along really well and that makes for a nice atmosphere within the team. They’ve been working with Clement during the off-season and everything has been really positive. The race bikes have been refined for this year to comply with the new sound regulations, and we’ve also improved things on the chassis side for better handling. The overall package that we had last year was really good, but now it’s even better and the riders are very happy with what we’ve provided them with. All of the hard work is done and now it’s time to go racing. This will be our second season with Triumph in MXGP and with our experience from last year, we’re in a much better position. Everyone involved is excited to start the 2025 season this weekend in Argentina and both riders have everything they need to be running up front.”
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing icon Jeffrey Herlings is working towards a competitive return to motocross action and through the final stages of rehabilitation after surgery to repair a torn right ACL.
The five-times world champion and most successful Grand Prix winner in FIM Motocross World Championship history is coming closer to his goal of being able to ride, test and get back into MXGP shape for 2025. 30-year-old Herlings underwent an operation to fix the right knee injury, which he sustained in the sand of Valkenswaard in October 2024 and after a strong campaign in which he completed the 20-round season with 3rd in the standings and with 4 GP wins and 15 podium finishes.
Since the medical procedure the Dutchman (Red Bull KTM’s longest serving racer after joining the factory MXGP team in 2010) has been following the rehab steps and is now just a few weeks away from being able to ride his 2025 KTM 450 SX-F.
Herlings will not be able to join the rest of his team for the season-opening Grand Prix of Argentina on 2-3 March but will then assess his pace and progress until he is ready to enter the MXGP start gate once more for his eighth attempt at the class and his sixteenth year as a world championship athlete.
Jeffrey Herlings: “We’re looking good. I can do everything aside from ride the bike. I can cycle, swim, cross train – and it should only be a few weeks until we are back to the normal plan. 2024 wasn’t a great season but it was decent; we’d made a lot of races, came close to the MXGP championship, won a few GPs and had something like 15 podiums at the end. I wanted to be strong coming into this year so having this setback was not good but what I can hope for now is a successful second part of the championship. It was a weird injury because there was not much pain after surgery but it takes time to recover. I want to ride as soon as possible and join the rest of my Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team… but we just need to wait a little longer. I really want to race again.”

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing set to Defend MX2 Title with Reigning Champion Kay de Wolf & Liam Everts
Reigning Champion Kay de Wolf Leads Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing into the 2025 MX2 Season, with Liam Everts joining the team, and eager to bounce back and challenge for wins
Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing is set to return to the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship in 2025, with reigning MX2 World Champion Kay de Wolf spearheading the effort, alongside new teammate Liam Everts.
De Wolf, who will proudly debut the #1 plate for the first time, is determined to defend his title and reaffirm his status as the rider to beat in one of the most fiercely contested classes in world motocross. Meanwhile, Everts is steadily progressing in his recovery and remains fully focused on returning to peak fitness to challenge at the front.
De Wolf enjoyed a record-breaking 2024 season, delivering an astonishing seven overall Grand Prix victories and maintaining the red plate as the championship leader from start to finish. Now, as the new season looms, the Dutch rider is preparing for another intense campaign, where consistency, outright speed, and race-winning performances will be crucial in his bid for back-to-back world titles.
The 2025 MX2 World Championship is set to deliver another edge-of-the-seat season-long battle, with an ultra-competitive field of emerging talent vying for the front from the first gate drop. While de Wolf faces fresh challengers eager to dethrone him, his championship experience and unwavering determination put him in a strong position to defend his title. Meanwhile, Everts, coming off a season disrupted by injury, is highly motivated to regain form and reassert himself as a top contender in the class, further strengthening the team’s ambitions.
Before the 69th FIM Motocross World Championship officially begins in Argentina on 2nd March, de Wolf will make his #1 plate debut at Hawkstone International on 9th February, marking his first race action of 2025. Everts’ return remains under evaluation, with a final decision expected in the coming weeks.
With a formidable line-up, strong ambitions, and a hunger for success, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing is fully committed to another highly competitive MX2 season, ready to fight for victories, podiums, and ultimate championship glory in 2025.
#1 – Kay de Wolf:« My off-season has been great – lots of hard work, but nothing drastic has changed. I feel strong, confident, and ready to go. Running the #1 plate is something I’ve dreamed about my whole life, and now that I have the chance, I see it as motivation rather than pressure. The goal is simple: stay consistent, get on the podium as much as possible, and fight to defend my title. »
#26 – Liam Everts:« Recovery has been going well, and I’ve been easing back on the bike, but we’re taking it slow. Whether I’ll race the first round is still uncertain, and we’ll make a decision after my check-ups this month. Joining Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing has been a great experience – they welcomed me with open arms, and I feel at home here. My focus this season is to rebuild step by step, regain my race rhythm, and get back to the front. »
Rasmus Jorgensen – Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Team Manager:“Once again, I’m extremely proud of our entire team and the ambitious approach we have all taken during this winter period. Continuously striving for improvement in all areas is essential to achieving our goals. Kay has had a strong off-season so far, working hard to put himself in the best possible position for the season ahead—he’s embracing the #1 plate with exactly the right mindset. With Liam, the priority is getting him back to full fitness, and we won’t rush anything. He is a dedicated worker and has been a fantastic addition to the team. Having both riders on board brings great energy, and we’re excited for what’s ahead in 2025.”

Kawasaki ready for a new challenge
The Kawasaki Racing Team enters the FIM Motocross World Championship stronger than ever in 2025 as the team will compete in both major classes this year; alongside the rich history of the team in the MXGP class, a new chapter will open as they will also line up in the MX2 class.
Based in Lommel (Belgium), which is considered the ‘heart of European motocross’, the Kawasaki Racing Team has a long experience in racing in the premier off-road series as both the team owner and management have been involved in motorsport for many years.
Former Formula1 world champion Kimi Räikkönen, the team principal who has been passionate about motocross since his childhood, is universally respected in the sport as is team manager Antti Pyrhönen, who successfully contested the motocross world championship for more than a decade before turning to team management twelve years ago.
Working closely with Kawasaki Motors Ltd, the team achieved outstanding results during the last two campaigns as they celebrated twenty-three GP podiums, six GP victories and twelve moto wins in the MXGP class, the pinnacle of off-road racing.
Throughout the winter the team members and Japanese engineers have worked systematically to optimise Kawasaki’s commitment to new FIM technical and environmental rules with continued updates and refinement to the KX-SR factory machines, which themselves are developed from the stock bikes available to customers at the worldwide network of Kawasaki dealerships.
Testing went perfectly in sunny Sardinia throughout January to prepare for the first pre-season races, the first of which is hosted by the Salop Motor Club at Hawkstone Park in England prior to the opening round of the FIM World Championship in Argentina on March 1st/2nd.
It was a busy and intense winter as the team will not only remain committed to success in the MXGP class with Frenchman Romain Febvre – it will be his fourth season with the team – and Latvian Pauls Jonass – a former MX2 world champion – but also extend their portfolio by entering the MX2 class as the official Kawasaki team for the first time with Mathis Valin.
After his victorious campaign in the European EMX250 series during his first season with Kawasaki, French teenager Mathis Valin has been promoted to lead this exciting challenge with the new KX250-SR Kawasaki as KRT seek success in both classes to excite and satisfy the hunger of the lime-green community worldwide.
Mr Manabu Shinobu: Senior Manager -Marketing Department – Marketing & Sales Division -Kawasaki Motors, Ltd: “The Kawasaki official entry in both MXGP and MX2 for the 2025 season shows our level of commitment to off-road sport. We hope fans globally share in the success that is being anticipated using the same KX models that fans can purchase as the base for the world championship machines being campaigned.”
Antti Pyrhönen : Team Manager: “The time we are all working towards is here yet again and the Championship is set to start. I am feeling very calm, our riders have completed an extremely strong winter test program and the team is in a good place”
Steve Guttridge: Race Planning Manager – Kawasaki Motors Europe: “The 2025 season lays ahead and both the team and all lime green fans are ready for the gate to drop. Competing officially in both MXGP and MX2 is a huge step forward for our motocross project and we have the riders, staff and machinery in place to make a huge impact.”
Romain Febvre: « We had perfect conditions to work in Sardinia; I also had a perfect physical training schedule in Spain before Christmas and then again n Sardinia. The Japanese engineers were with us in Sardinia; we had successful testing sessions with them, and I must say that the bike now suits me even better! I feel confident for the season ahead; now I can’t wait to be behind the starting gate to finalise our preparation! »
Pauls Jonass: “Everything has been going really good so far, good preparation and good testing weeks in Sardinia, it was good to know the bike more and more and work on different things as I have never been riding a Kawasaki before joining the team. It has been great to learn the bike better, to work with the mechanics and everyone in the team before the first races. Of course there is still some work to do, but the season is long. I feel ready to go racing and excited to see how the bike and I react in race conditions. »
Mathis Valin:“I was welcomed whole-heartedly by the team and I immediately felt comfortable with the team members and the bike. We worked a lot this winter with the team. I also worked hard physically and I feel ready for the new season; I’m happy to be back racing soon to face the challenges ahead. »

In less than one month, the gate will drop for the first time at a brand-new venue in Cordoba, Argentina, where Yamaha’s six-rider factory line-up will begin their quest for Grand Prix success.
In the MXGP class, former MX2 World Champion Maxime Renaux enters his fourth season with the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team aboard the factory YZ450FM. The 24-year-old Frenchman has faced adversity since stepping up to the premier class in 2022, but his talent shines through. With 10 podiums and two Grand Prix wins in MXGP, plus his impressive MX2 record—20 podiums, six GP wins, and the 2021 World Title—Renaux has established himself as a serious title contender, aiming to convert his consistent podium pace into a sustained championship challenge.
The team is strengthened by the return of Belgian talent Jago Geerts, who gets a fresh start at his rookie MXGP season after injury cut short his 2024 campaign. Bringing an impressive pedigree from MX2 – 24 GP wins and 55 podium finishes – Geerts has shown promising signs with the YZ450FM during winter testing. Targeting consistent results as he adapts to the demands of the premier class, his extensive experience in winning races and Grands Prix in MX2 should serve him well as he rebuilds his confidence.
Completing the MXGP roster is Calvin Vlaanderen, who has shown impressive progression since joining the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team in 2024. Last season, the South African climbed to fourth in the championship standings and secured two podium finishes before a knee injury interrupted his campaign. Now, with two successful surgeries behind him and a career tally of 14 podiums and two GP wins, the number 10 is approaching peak condition and ready to pick up where he left off.
Having shown flashes of brilliance throughout his MX2 career since 2021, Thibault Benistant enters his final year in the class with the title firmly in his sights. The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 star will sport the number 9 in 2025, moving away from his traditional 198 as he aims to end his 250cc career on a high. With eight race wins and 16 podium finishes to his name in MX2, plus titles in both EMX125 and EMX250 championships, the 22-year-old Frenchman has all the ingredients needed to mount a serious challenge for the MX2 World Title.
Alongside him, Dutch talent Rick Elzinga has also embraced change, adopting the number 4 for his final season in MX2. Despite a winter setback with a broken elbow, Elzinga is expected to line up in Argentina, albeit with shortened preparation. His title in the 2022 EMX250 Championship and two MX2 podium finishes in 2024 demonstrate his capability to overcome adversity and deliver results when it matters most.
The most intriguing story within the MX2 squad belongs to Karlis Reisulis. The 18-year-old Latvian prodigy made an immediate impact during his mid-season MX2 debut in 2024, leading 23 laps and securing a stunning second-place finish in Race 2 at the MXGP of Switzerland. Looking to build on his stunning 2024 debut with regular top-five finishes, Reisulis embodies the bright future of Yamaha’s motocross program.
Both Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 teams are ripe and ready for the gates to drop. The MXGP squad will get their first taste of racing action at the Hawkstone International in Shrewsbury, England, on February 9th. The MX2 riders will begin their campaign at different events – Reisulis will make his debut at the first round of the Internazionali d’Italia this weekend in Mantova, Italy, before joining Benistant at the LaCapelle -Marival International in France a week later. Following these pre-season events, twenty rounds of FIM Motocross World Championship racing await, starting in Argentina and continuing through diverse tracks and locations across Europe, Indonesia, Turkey, and China before concluding in Australia.

MXGP 2025 Round 1
Honda HRC Strengthens Its Lineup for the 2025 MXGP Season
Honda HRC has bolstered its roster even further for the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship, building on last year’s impressive trio of Tim Gajser (MXGP), Ruben Fernandez (MXGP), and Ferruccio Zanchi (MX2). The addition of Valerio Lata (MX2) to the team in November promises even more strength, with two riders aboard the Honda CRF450R and two on the CRF250R. This well-rounded lineup has generated plenty of excitement within the team, as they prepare for what could be a highly successful season.
Of course, that shouldn’t come as a surprise when you consider the accolades of five-time world champion Gajser, who narrowly missed out on his sixth title at the final round of 2024. Despite that disappointment, he was able to rebound quickly and put in an incredible performance at the Motocross of Nations in Matterley Basin, going one-one and quickly reminding everyone that he’ll be the man to beat this coming season.
Fernandez is in a different situation, given how he missed a large portion of the 2024 campaign, but the Spaniard showed on his return that he is a force to be reckoned with, when he got back to full-fitness and with a complete off-season behind him, he’s ready to show the speed that saw him take victory at the opening round of the 2023 season. And while the track they visit in Argentina for round one this year is different than the one he won at, the #70 knows what he is capable of, and is excited at the prospect of starting afresh in ’25.
A rookie in the MX2 class last year, Zanchi made a solid debut in Honda HRC’s reintroduced 250cc programme. Despite the challenges, the young Italian delivered several strong performances, ultimately finishing 10th in the championship standings. Now, with a full season of experience and further development of the CRF250R, Zanchi is determined to take his performance to the next level. Relocating to Belgium over the winter demonstrates his commitment to improving, and he is eager to showcase his growth on the global stage.
Valerio Lata, the newest addition to the team, arrives with an impressive European motocross resume and the determination to continue his success in the world championships. Having already earned a podium as a wildcard rider in 2024, Lata has proven he has the speed necessary for the MX2 class. However, he understands the challenges of a full season and has used the winter to adapt to the bike while enhancing his fitness in preparation for the demanding 20-round schedule. Lata is eager to make his official debut with Honda HRC and is excited about the opportunity to prove himself on the world stage.
Before the season kicks off, the team will head to Mantova, Italy, for the Internazionali D’Italia on February 9th, allowing the riders a chance to get in a few competitive races before the championship begins in earnest. Following that, the riders will choose from events in Montevarchi (Italy), Sommieres (France), and Cadiz (Spain) for additional preparation before traveling to Cordoba, Argentina, for the season opener. With a strong lineup and high expectations, the Honda HRC team is ready to showcase their capabilities in the 2025 World Motocross Championship.
Tim Gajser 243
I’m coming into this year with a good attitude and with the confidence that I can go one better than in 2024. I did a lot of good things last year, and came very close, so it was disappointing to miss out but that is the past now and I can only focus on the future and what I can do to make it a good one. I feel like my winter training has gone well, I’m comfortable with the bike and I’m excited for the challenge ahead. We start off, and finish with new tracks, and then in between them are all ones we’ve ridden before, so it’ll be an interesting year and one I can’t wait to get going.
Ruben Fernandez 70
After the injury at the first-round last year, I didn’t get to really show everyone all the work I’d done in the off-season. And even at the end, I was only just scraping the surface of how fast I believe I could’ve been at a lot of rounds. Now, my aim is show that speed throughout the season, and challenge up the front of the field. I am in a good place, with good people around me and that is also important, so my goal is enjoy myself when I’m out on the track. If I can do that, I can definitely get some good results.
Ferruccio Zanchi 73
Finishing off the season with my best points tally of the season, really gave me a boost coming into this year. It proved that I belong at the front of the field, and I know that another winter of getting used to the bike, of getting stronger and fitter, and just of being better prepared for a 20-round championship will make 2025 a good year. We have been working throughout these past few months to improve and I’ve also made some changes personally that I believe will help too. Of course, it is easy to say all these things, but I have to go out there and show it and that will be the aim when the gate drops in Argentina.
Valerio Lata 18
It is great to be riding for Honda HRC in 2025, but after all the hard work I’ve done to get to this point, I know I can’t stop trying now. Now, I have to keep pushing, especially as this is a completely different machine than I have ever ridden before. Still, from the first time I rode it, I knew that I would be good on it, and with all the testing and training we’ve done, that feeling has grown. I have ridden pretty much all the European tracks before, but I’m very excited to be joining the MX2 full-time and racing around the world and getting the chance to experience Argentina, China, Indonesia and Australia for the first time.
Koji Watanabe
HRC President
I am really excited for the 2025 world motocross season, and seeing four Honda HRC riders on the gate across the two classes. Tim has been a great representative for our brand for a long time now and has been the ultimate professional and I hope he can get his sixth world title. Ruben is an exciting rider and one that should have the speed to be up there challenging on a consistent basis this year. Then we have the two young MX2 riders, Ferruccio and Valerio who have a lot of potential on our Honda CRF250Rs, so I will be paying a lot of attention to their results. I want to wish all four riders the best of luck and hopefully I will make it to some rounds to support them.
Marcus Pereira de Freitas
HRC General Manager – MXGP
Everyone at Honda HRC is really excited for the 2025 season. We have four riders who are all at really interesting positions in their career, and who are all highly motivated for this year to be a good one. Tim is obviously aiming for his sixth world title, after coming so close last year, and I think that’ll really spur him on and make him tough deny. Ruben got injured so early in 2024 that he didn’t really get to show anyone what he was truly capable of, so now he’s got the chance to do that all over again, and he definitely has some good tracks where he’ll be challenging for the win. Then we have the two youngsters in the MX2 class – Ferro had a good rookie campaign but now wants to really push on and fight further up the field, while Valerio is the rookie, but has already shown he can get on the podium, and wants to prove he can do it again. All in all, a great group of riders who will all do a great job representing Honda HRC.
Just like the last couple of seasons and continuing what has become a bit of a tradition in recent years, the season will kick off in Argentina, setting the stage for an electrifying championship battle as the sport’s biggest names fight for glory. The MXGP class boasts an incredible lineup of World Champions, including Tim Gajser, Jeffrey Herlings, Romain Febvre, Maxime Renaux and Pauls Jonass that will have to fend off to fend off numerous eager and talented riders such as Jago Geerts, Jeremy Seewer and MXGP rookie Lucas Coenen. In the MX2 category, Kay de Wolf faces a formidable challenge as he will have to deal with title hopefuls like Simon Längenfelder, Liam Everts, Andrea Adamo and Thibault Benistant to only name a few.
GUILLEM FARRES IMPRESSES ON TRIUMPH DEBUT WITH SECOND OVERALL AT SPANISH MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
Sun 02 Feb 2025
Monster Energy Triumph Racing’s Guillem Farres has finished as runner-up at the opening round of the 2025 Spanish Motocross Championship. Competing aboard his TF 250-X for the very first time at the former Grand Prix circuit of Talavera, Farres placed second in both races to secure second overall. Camden McLellan was also in action in Spain, narrowly missing out on a trip to the podium in fourth.
Originally scheduled to be a two-day event, the first round of the Spanish Motocross Championship became a one-day affair after heavy rain fell in the lead-up to the racing weekend. A restructured format was then implemented for Sunday, which featured a timed training session followed by two 30-minute-plus-two-lap races.
In challenging conditions for the morning’s timed training session, Farres posted the third-fastest time with McLellan not too far back in sixth. By the time the two teammates lined up for their opening race of the day, track conditions had improved significantly, with both riders excited for the first gate drop of 2025.
A top-10 start in race one set Farres up for a strong opening moto. By the end of the first lap, the Spanish star was into second and then inherited the lead when early race leader Salvador Perez fell from his machine. Guillem then controlled the race from the front, but disaster struck on the final lap when he came together with a lapped rider. Able to remount quickly and unscathed, Farres finished the opening moto in second place.
Race two started with Guillem running in second before moving into first by the end of lap one. He’d then relinquish the lead to Oriol Oliver three laps into the moto, but kept his fellow Spaniard in sight as the race continued. In a spirited effort on the final lap, Farres posted the fastest lap of the moto and crossed the finish line just half a second from victory. With two runner-up race results, Guillem placed a hard-fought second overall.
It was a mixed day of racing for McLellan at round one of the Spanish Motocross Championship. A strong start and eventual third-place finish in moto one proved the highlight of the day for the 20-year-old. In race two, an unfortunate crash early on left Camden downfield but after an impressive charge through the pack, he placed fifth to secure fourth overall.
Guillem Farres
“I’m really happy to have made my Monster Energy Triumph Racing debut today, and it’s been my first race in quite a long time. I led race one until the final lap when I crashed with a rider I was trying to lap, so that was really disappointing. I then led race two early on before being pushed back to second. On the last lap I gave it everything I had and almost won, which would have given me the overall, but I just missed out. I’ve had a great day with the team and now I’m looking forward to the upcoming races.”
Camden McLellan
“So that’s race day at Talavera done, and it’s been a tough one. The track was super technical after all the rain and I couldn’t quite find my flow today. We still have a few weeks before Argentina and I have a few things to work on, but by the time we go racing again I know I’ll be dialled and I’ll come out swinging for sure.”

MIKKEL HAARUP CONTINUES WITH TRIUMPH IN NEW DEVELOPMENT ROLE
Thu 19 Dec 2024
Triumph is pleased to announce that Mikkel Haarup will remain with the brand for 2025 and 2026. During the first year of the new agreement, the talented racer – who secured fifth in the 2024 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship – will transition into a development role between Triumph and Monster Energy Triumph Racing to fine-tune the TF 450-RC ahead of its MXGP debut. Then, in 2026, Haarup will return to racing full-time by lining up in the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
Having played a vital role in developing the TF 250-X ahead of the 2024 MX2 World Championship, Haarup is the perfect candidate for this hybrid role. Mikkel’s experience, attitude, and work ethic have proven invaluable to Triumph, and given his multiple podium results during last season, it was an easy decision for Triumph to retain the services of the talented Danish racer.
In his new role, Mikkel will divide his time between working with Triumph’s in-house development team and Monster Energy Triumph Racing throughout 2025. This pivotal position will ensure the TF 450-RC is fully competitive for its MXGP debut in 2026 and allows all involved in the project ample time to develop settings for the variety of circuits visited on the MXGP calendar.
Mikkel Haarup
“It’s an honour for me to once again say that I’ll be a part of Triumph and Monster Energy Triumph Racing. Next year I’ll be working closely with Triumph’s engineering department to develop the bike that I’ll be racing on the following year. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity and something that I couldn’t say no to. It’ll be an experience that will set us up nicely for the MXGP season in 2026 where I’ll not only make my debut in the MXGP class, but it will be Triumph’s as well. To be able to do this with the brand and the racing team that I have worked with for more than a year already really is something special and I’m excited to get started.”
Ian Kimber – Head of Global Racing Programmes, Triumph Motorcycles
“I am really happy to be able to keep Mikkel with Triumph, and for him to still be our first MXGP rider. With our 450 programme moving to 2026, and Mikkel aging out of MX2 in 2024, it left us in a difficult position. However, with our new deal, it means that we can spend 2025 working with Mikkel and the team, to ensure that the bike is competitive and Mikkel is at home on the new bike. Mikkel’s attitude and work ethic is an asset to our programme, and I know he will push as hard as he can for success. Having a rider who already knows Triumph and the team will be invaluable towards starting our MXGP campaign successfully in 2026.”

L’ESPRIT READY TO RACE RESTE INTACT. Sportivement, L’équipe KTM Sportmotorcycle France SAS
Yamaha Announces YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup Winners
Yamaha Motor Europe is excited to announce the winners of the 2024 YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup, following an intense two days of training and assessment under the watchful eyes of bLU cRU coaches Gautier Paulin, Brian Jørgensen and Nancy van de Ven during the YZ bLU cRU Masterclass at Motocross des Costières in the South of France.
In the face of stiff competition, 16-year-old Briton Jamie Keith was selected as the winner of this year’s YZ125 Cup. Keith will step up to contest EMX125 in 2025 with a fully supported ride in the JK Racing Yamaha team.
In the YZ85 class it was 13-year-old Dutch rider Kay Zijlstra who was identified during the YZ bLU cRU Masterclass as the rider with the most potential, from a group in which the level of all the riders was extremely high. Zijlstra will receive direct Yamaha support for his 2025 season.
In the YZ65 Cup it proved impossible to separate British rider Tommy Wood and Dutch rider Jann Huisman, both of whom are 10 years of age. As a result, both riders will now receive the same level of support for their 2025 campaigns, with Wood supported by Yamaha Motor Europe and Huisman supported by Yamaha Motor Benelux.
The bLU cRU is open to all Yamaha YZ riders aged between 8 and 16 years and is free to join. You can sign up for the 2024 YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup by clicking HERE.
In 2024 Yamaha Motor Europe’s bLU cRU program featured hundreds of talented riders racing across Europe, all chasing a place on the start gate at the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale, which this year ran as an integral part of the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin and, for the first time, featured riders from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and Brazil.
From the 113 riders who competed in the YZ SuperFinale, the top three European finishers from each class, along with two wildcard riders and the top-performing female rider in each category, were invited to the prestigious bLU cRU Masterclass at Motocross des Costières in Beauvoisin, France in November.
At the Masterclass the riders had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and receive guidance from bLU cRU coaches Paulin, Van de Ven and Jørgensen, who then had the unenviable job of selecting the winners from an increasingly talented group.
After the resounding success of the 2024 YZ Cup, in 2025 a further 120 riders from Cups and Challenges around the world will compete to win a place on the gate at the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale, the venue for this epic event will be announced shortly.
In the meantime, you can sign up to join the bLU cRU on the blue button below.
Yamaha Motor Europe Announces VHR VRT Yamaha Official EMX250 Team and Rider Line-Up for 2025
Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to unveil an exciting evolution in its European Championship EMX250 program for 2025. The VRT Yamaha Official EMX250 team has partnered with the esteemed VHR team, led by Bruno Verhaeghe, to form the newly named VHR VRT Yamaha Official EMX250 team. This collaboration combines expertise, resources, and passion to elevate the program to new heights.
Yamaha and the team are proud to keep talented riders Ivano van Erp and Janis Reisulis for another season. Both, equipped with Yamaha’s proven GYTR kitted YZ250F, will have the tools to chase championship glory in 2025.
As the 2017 Junior Motocross 65cc World Champion, van Erp has proven to be one of the most promising riders in European motocross. The Dutch star joined Yamaha’s EMX125 program in 2020, where he honed his skills and secured seven race wins and six overall victories aboard a GYTR kitted YZ125. He capped his 125cc career with a victory at the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in 2022. In 2023, van Erp stepped up to the EMX250 class, immediately making an impact with a race win and overall victory in Latvia before a season-ending injury slowed his progress. Despite limited preparation for 2024, due to the injury sustained, he made a strong comeback with three podium finishes, including a round win, positioning him as a title favourite for 2025.
Janis Reisulis burst onto the scene in 2022 with a podium finish in his EMX125 debut season at just 13 years old. In 2023, the young Latvian dominated the EMX125 Championship, achieving 12 race wins, six overall victories, and a flawless 100% podium record to claim the title. Promoted to the EMX250 team in 2024, Reisulis faced an early setback due to an ACL ligament injury but remains determined to return stronger and battle for the title in 2025.
This collaboration with VHR, a team which was founded in 1997 by Bruno Verhaeghe, marks an exciting chapter for Yamaha Motor Europe’s EMX250 program. The VHR team, known for its family spirit and history of developing talented riders, brings a wealth of experience to this new venture. Combined with the strong foundation established by VRT and a powerhouse rider line-up, the VHR VRT Yamaha Official EMX250 team is poised to achieve exceptional results in 2025.

MARC-ANTOINE ROSSI JOINS RED BULL KTM MXGP SQUAD FOR 2025 AND COMPLETES FULL LINE-UP 2024 MXGP news
Promising French youngster Marc-Antoine Rossi will wear Red Bull KTM Factory Racing colors in 2025 and is set to steer a KTM 250 SX-F in the FIM MX2 World Championship.
The 18-year-old comes into the works outfit for what will be his second attempt at the MX2 series. He has spent much of his fledgling racing career on KTM SX machinery as he ascended through EMX European Championship competition.
Rossi made his Grand Prix debut at his home round in 2023 and impressed with 7th position overall at Villars sous Ecot. That same season Rossi confirmed 7th place in the EMX250 Championship despite missing three rounds. He shone with three moto wins among a total of six top three finishes. That form, style, speed and determination took him into MX2 for 2024 where he posted a sequence of top ten results in the first four Grands Prix of 2024 until a knee injury halted his progress.
#28 will come under the guidance of Joel Smets and the rest of the Red Bull KTM structure for the next step in his career path. He will follow in the footsteps of countrymen like Marvin Musquin, Jordi Tixier and Tom Vialle to try and excel in the orange.
The full Red Bull KTM Factory Racing line-up for 2025 in both MXGP and MX2 classes will consist of Jeffrey Herlings and Lucas Coenen riding the KTM 450 SX-F and then Andrea Adamo, Sacha Coenen, Simon Lägenfelder and Marc-Antoine Rossi with the KTM 250 SX-F.
Marc-Antoine Rossi: “I’m really happy to be back in orange and to join this crew. I’m already excited for 2025 and will be back on a bike soon and working with Joel. I’ll give everything I have for what will be a long year. I hope I can make the podium at some point next season.”
Joel Smets, Red Bull KTM Team Manager: “For many years France has had this reputation of bringing up young, skilled riders and Marc Antoine Rossi can be added to this list. He’s only 18 but has already shown great potential in EMX125 and EMX250. He then displayed bright flashes of speed and strength this year. Marc-Antoine is still so young and reminds me a lot of Tom Vialle. He not only has the same number but he has that same laidback attitude which camouflages a real ambition to work and to achieve. He is a good listener and is very keen to learn. He has time to grow and we don’t want to rush things. We believe he has a great future.”
Liam Everts Joins Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing: Geared Up for MX2 in 2025With a fresh start and new race number, 26, Liam Everts is ready to make his mark in an exciting chapter of his motocross career.
Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing is excited to announce that Liam Everts, one of motocross’ brightest young talents, will join the team for the 2025 MX2 season. Everts will race alongside reigning MX2 World Champion Kay de Wolf, forming a duo that promises to take the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship by storm.
Liam Everts, aged 20, hailing from Hasselt in Belgium, carries a prestigious motocross pedigree as the son of ten-time world champion Stefan Everts and the grandson of four-time world champion Harry Everts. While his family’s legacy has undoubtedly shaped his early career, Liam’s own accomplishments are now speaking for themselves.
In 2021, Liam made his MX2 debut at the Grand Prix of Sardinia, where he quickly began to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with. The next season, in 2022, Everts’ determination saw him secure a top-10 finish in the MX2 World Championship.
Building on this momentum in 2023, Liam fiercely challenged Andrea Adamo for the world title until a major crash at the penultimate round interrupted his campaign. Despite this setback, 2023 was a breakout year for Everts. He captured Grand Prix victories in Germany, the Netherlands, and Turkey, firmly establishing himself on the world stage. By season’s end, he had secured fourth place overall in the MX2 World Championship – proving he’s ready to step out from his family’s shadow and make his own mark.
The 2024 season saw Everts demonstrate his incredible raw speed once more, securing back-to-back Grand Prix victories in Trentino and Portugal before an unfortunate injury prematurely ended his season. Now, on his way to full fitness, Everts is ready to enter a new chapter with Husqvarna in 2025, where he will be racing on the Husqvarna FC250.
#26 – Liam Everts:« I’m super happy to join Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing – they’re a great group of people, and it’s an exciting new challenge. I’ve spent a lot of time with them in the past, so I feel really good about this move. My motivation to take on a fresh challenge is really high; I definitely needed a change. We both want to win – that’s the ultimate goal. We want to become world champions. We’ll see how everything goes with me coming back from injury, but we’ll take it step by step and see what the speed is like once I’m back on the bike. This opportunity also felt like the perfect time to change my race number – new team, new colors, new number! After the accident, a lot changed, and now it felt like the right time to start something of my own. My family has been super supportive. It feels like an exciting, fresh chapter in my career! »
Rasmus Jorgensen – Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Team Manager:“We’re super excited to have Liam join the Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team. His talent, dedication, and strong work ethic make him a perfect fit for our program. With the unfortunate injury he sustained in China, the first and only priority right now is to get him back on the bike without any limitations whatsoever. With Kay [de Wolf], the reigning MX2 World Champion, as his teammate, we’re confident that this duo will continue to push themselves, each other, and our team forward, ultimately creating an exciting dynamic that will bring us great highlights in 2025! Let’s go TEAM!”

Valerio Lata joins Team HRC MX2 programme for 2025
Valerio Lata has joined Team HRC in a multi-year deal that’ll see him ride the Honda CRF250R alongside fellow Italian Ferruccio Zanchi in the MX2 class for 2025. The 19-year-old has had a few wildcard MX2 rides so far in his career – including a third place at the 2024 MXGP of Italy – but the 2025 campaign will mark his first full season in the class and one that is filled with potential.
As well as that podium effort in Maggiora, Lata also narrowly missed out on the 2024 EMX250 title, after taking a number of moto wins and overall victories. This was a continuation of an extremely impressive career to date, that saw him become 85cc World Champion in 2019, European 125cc Champion in 2021 and Italian Champion on two separate occasions. He has shown immense promise since he arrived in the GP paddock and it is a mark of intent from Team HRC that they were able to add him to their roster for 2025.
Last season, the MX2 programme was relaunched with Zanchi as the sole rider, and the rookie put in some excellent results that resulted in a top 10 championship standing. For this coming year, as the programme gathers pace, it was decided that second-rider was needed to continue that momentum and really show what the Honda CRF250R was capable of. Two riders, with a lot of potential, give Honda double the chances of success and show future riders that there is a real pathway to victory with the brand.
Now though, the present will see Lata and Zanchi in MX2, with five-time world champion Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez in the MXGP class, in what is the strongest squad of riders for Team HRC in a number of years. All four riders are currently training hard, getting themselves in shape for what should be a tough, 20-round season in the World Motocross Championships, which will get underway in Cordoba, Argentina on March 1st.
Valerio Lata 18
It is a great honour to be joining Team HRC for the 2025 season, in preparation for what will be my first full-time MX2 season. As a kid, you always know the history of the riders that rode for HRC and it is a privilege to be joining that list now. Last year, they re-started with the Honda CRF250R programme and they had some good results with Ferruccio (Zanchi), so I knew that I would have a good bike and a good setup and now I hope I can help them with even more top results. It is a very professional team who know how to win, and I can’t wait to get started.
Yuzuru Ishikawa
HRC Executive Director
Signing Valerio is another important step for Team HRC because it shows that we are building and improving our Honda CRF250R programme. Last season Ferruccio Zanchi did a great job, finishing in the top 10 of the MX2 championship, and now by bringing in Valerio we want to have more good finishes and more possibilities of showing the strength of the CRF250R. Valerio has had a lot of success as a younger rider, winning some very impressive titles and races and it will be exciting to see what he can achieve with the backing of Team HRC.
Marcus Pereira de Freitas
HRC General Manager – MXGP
We are all very excited to have Valerio Lata joining us at Team HRC. He is a rider who we’ve been following the progress of, for a number of years and when the opportunity came for us to be able to sign him, we knew we had to take it. He has won a lot of titles throughout his career, and even this year, he got a podium in Maggiora on a wildcard ride in MX2, so we know that he has the speed. Now, we have the winter to get him settled on the bike and put in some good training, so that come the first round in Argentina, he will be right up to pace. With him and Ferruccio, it is a very exciting time for our CRF250R development and one that we are looking forward to.
TRIUMPH PARTNERS WITH DIRT STORE MOTOCROSS TEAM FOR 2025 BRITISH MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
Fri 08 Nov 2024
· Triumph Motorcycles will partner with the Dirt Store Motocross Team to represent the brand for its inaugural year in British Motocross.
· The ‘Dirt Store Triumph Racing’ team consists of a three-rider line up: Tommy Searle, Joel Rizzi and Billy Askew.
· The new partnership signals a new era for Triumph Motorcycles in the motocross and off-road category, following the launch of the new TF 450-RC Edition with Ricky Carmichael.
Triumph Motorcycles will partner with the Dirt Store team for the 2025 British Motocross Championship. The collaboration brings together Triumph’s engineering prowess and Dirt Store Racing’s expertise, as they set sights on podium finishes across both the MX1 and MX2 classes.
The Dirt Store Triumph Racing team will field a three-rider line-up, including the established talents of Tommy Searle and Joel Rizzi, alongside rising star Billy Askew.
Tommy Searle, who finished second in the MX2 class of the ACU British Championship in 2024, will be returning to race in the MX2 class alongside 17-year-old Billy Askew on the new TF 250-X. Searle is eager to add to his roster after his strong title fight, securing a 66% overall podium rate this past season.
Joel Rizzi returns for another year with Dirt Store Racing and will be stepping up to the MX1 class in the 2025 season. His performance last season showcased the incredible speed and determination within his talent. Rizzi will switch to the TF 450-RC next season as he chases his maiden win within MX1.
Young talent Billy Askew, who completed his first season in both European and UK elite racing in 2024, will also be competing in EMX 250 in 2025. Askew saw a positive debut year in both classes and his invaluable experience gives him a strong building block for the upcoming season.
The partnership signals a new era for Triumph as the brand looks to establish itself in motocross. Triumph launched their first motocross bike – the TF 250-X – in early 2024 alongside the recently launched TF 450-RC in collaboration with the GOAT, Ricky Carmichael.
Developed by world-leading Triumph engineers and Motocross champions, both the TF 250-X and the all-new TF 450-RC Edition features the strongest power-to-weight ratio in their class.
Ian Kimber, Head of Global Racing Programmes:
“Signing the Dirt Store team to represent Triumph in the British and European championships is an exciting step in the growth of our racing programmes. They have a strong line up of both younger and more experienced riders, and with Triumph and Dirt Store both investing heavily in the sport, it is the perfect opportunity to join forces and nurture British talent.”
Devron Boulton, General Manager for Triumph GB:
“We have already achieved huge success with Triumph Racing through our global supercross and motocross programmes and as we look towards our second season, we are all incredibly excited to be partnering with Dirt Store to lead the charge into competitive off-road racing in the UK. With Tommy Searle, Joel Rizzi and Billy Askew as our 2025 rider line-up, we have a trio of riders capable of competing at the highest levels of this sport within the UK, offering an exciting blend of experience and new talent which will be incredible to watch as racing gets underway.
Amy Sparrow, Marketing Manager for Triumph GB:
“Partnering with Dirt Store for Triumph Motorcycles inaugural year in British Motocross is a milestone I am proud to be part of. With all the success and positive feedback that we have received from the TF 250-X launched in market earlier this year and the recently launched TF 450-RC, it will make for an exhilarating first year of racing on home soil!”
Jon Giffard will continue to lead the team having managed the Giffard Race Team working closely with Tommy Searle and Joel Rizzi as both team manager and chief mechanic.
Jon Giffard, Dirt Store Triumph Racing Team Manager:
“We are really excited for GRT to take this next chapter and join the Triumph Racing brand aboard the new TF 250-X and TF 450-RC models. First impressions and rider feedback on the new bikes has been very positive and we look forward to starting the season.
“We aim to bring success for the British brand at a UK level, as well as the international stage. Thank you to Triumph UK&I, Amy Sparrow, Devron Boulton and Ian Kimber for believing in us and putting this support together. We would also like to thank our new and existing sponsors that continue to contribute to the team going racing in 2025.”
Tommy Searle:
“A change like this has given me something to really look forward to! Being part of a brand like Triumph, with it being British, and then seeing what they have done in their first year racing motocross is so exciting. Also, racing with the Dirt Store team again, I honestly couldn’t wish to do it with a better group of people.”
Joel Rizzi:
“I’m thrilled to be back onboard the Dirt Store team for 2025. But this year, with Triumph Racing UK&I, it is an awesome opportunity to be a part of, especially being one of the only riders supported to race the new 450. I’m eager for the challenge of the MX1 class, as well as competing in some GPs on the 250 to show what I can do. I can’t wait to keep improving on last year and get the ball rolling.”
Billy Askew:
“It’s great to be a part of the Dirt Store Triumph team. I’m so happy and impressed with how good the Triumph is. I can see how much work has gone in to make this thing as good as it is. I love the whole vibe around the team, and I know it’s gonna be a good year.”

Yamaha Motor Europe Confirms Unchanged MXGP Rider Line Up for 2025 Season
Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to confirm that Calvin Vlaanderen and Jago Geerts will remain with the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team until at least the end of 2025. Both riders, alongside Maxime Renaux, will campaign the factory Yamaha YZ450FM in the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
Maxime Renaux, the only rider to start the 2024 season with a contract extending into 2025, is gearing up for his fourth season with the YZ450FM. Despite facing a challenging foot injury over the past two seasons, the 24-year-old Frenchman has remained resilient and focused. With an impressive track record of eight Grand Prix victories and 30 podium finishes, Renaux is determined to fight for the premier class title in 2025.
After joining the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team at the end of 2023, Calvin Vlaanderen has made remarkable strides in both speed and confidence. Despite a minor pre-season injury, the determined #10 showed impressive resilience, climbing to fourth place in the MXGP World Championship standings before a knee injury cut his season short. Having secured 14 podium finishes and two Grand Prix wins throughout his career, Vlaanderen is eager to build on his success in 2025.
Jago Geerts started his professional career with Hans Corvers’s team in 2018 and is excited to remain with the same familiar squad for an eighth consecutive season. Although Geerts missed most of the 2024 season due to a complicated elbow injury sustained at the season opener in March, he remains a promising force. With an impressive record of 55 podium finishes, 24 Grand Prix wins, and five MX2 championship medals, all with Yamaha, Geerts brings a wealth of talent and potential as he continues to transition to the YZ450FM and the MXGP class.
With Renaux, Vlaanderen and Geerts making up the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team for 2025, Yamaha wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Andrea Bonacorsi for his contribution to Yamaha’s success over the past four seasons. During this time, the young Italian celebrated multiple EMX race wins and podiums aboard a GYTR-kitted YZ250F, with the highlight his remarkable 2023 EMX250 campaign, where he secured the title with a flawless record of podium finishes.
Calvin Vlaanderen
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider
“I’m really happy and excited to be staying with Yamaha for another season. It will be my fifth consecutive year in blue. It helps a lot to know the bike and team well. We have good experience from 2024 and can really build off of that going into a new season—not only with the bike, but also with myself and the team crew. From here, the plan is to go into the off-season with confidence and come out swinging in 2025, fighting for podiums and wins from Round One.”
Jago Geerts
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider
“I’m happy to stay with Yamaha for another year. I have been with Yamaha and the Kemea team for my entire career, so it’s nice to continue on this path as I prepare for my first full season in the MXGP class. Obviously, this year, I couldn’t show my speed on the YZ450FM yet, so the goal is to have a full and healthy season next year and to be back on the podium as soon as I can.”
Alexandre Kowalski
Yamaha Motor Europe Off-Road Racing Manager
« We are very happy to continue with both Calvin and Jago. We have a rich history with Jago, who has been with Yamaha throughout his entire professional career. Together, we have achieved significant success, including four silver medals in MX2 and 24 Grand Prix wins, creating many happy memories. We were eager to see him shine in the premier class on the YZ450FM. Unfortunately, an injury at the first round in Argentina delayed his progress. We believe Jago deserves a fair opportunity in the MXGP category and are confident he will perform well, as the bike complements his smooth and technical riding style. Therefore, it was important for us to keep him for the 2025 season. We are also pleased to continue another season with Calvin. He has been with Yamaha since 2020 and has earned his place on the factory team through his results as a satellite rider. Calvin stepped up to the factory team this season and has met all our expectations, demonstrating hard work, dedication, speed, and skill. With Calvin, Jago, and Maxime, we have an incredible team and look forward to a strong and successful season in 2025. »
HRC and Gariboldi Racing announce long-term collaboration extension as Gajser, Fernandez and Zanchi return for 2025
Honda Racing Corporation and Gariboldi Racing are pleased to announce that the collaboration that started in 2014, has had a long-term extension which sees the bond between the pair grow even stronger. The partnership, which has seen a huge amount of success in the motocross world championships – including Tim Gajser’s five world titles – has consistently proved itself to be one of the strongest teams in the paddock in the MXGP class. And after this year’s reintroduction of the Honda CRF250R underneath the awning, where Ferruccio Zanchi finished top 10 in the MX2 class in his rookie campaign, there is growing belief that Team HRC can challenge for honours in both divisions and provide a real pathway for future talent to win on CRF machinery.
The long-term extension was agreed upon when Giacomo Gariboldi recently headed to Japan, with both parties excited to put pen to paper. Always one of the leading lights in the MXGP paddock, the Team HRC setup provides a head-of-the-class facility for riders and staff members, and it is something that impresses the Japanese HRC members when they frequently visit the world motocross championships.
In what is one of the most successful branches of Honda Racing Corporation’s many programmes, the goal is to continue doing everything that has worked in the 10 years so far, as well as make sure there is a structure in place for the riders of tomorrow to be able to see themselves winning on the Honda brand in the future. In such a turbulent sport, it was recognised that this extension would give the security which was critical for riders to be able to focus purely on the racing side of things, and in turn, increase the chances of success for everyone involved.
Continuing the theme that structure and stability can bring success, Tim Gajser (MXGP), Ruben Fernandez (MXGP) and Ferruccio Zanchi (MX2) will all be returning for the 2025 World Motocross Championships under the Team HRC awning. Gajser narrowly missed out on the 2024 MXGP title on the last race of the championship, but then showed everyone what he was capable of, by putting in a truly memorable one-one performance at the Motocross of Nations. The Slovenian will be looking to go one position better in the 2025 season, and add to his five-world titles that he’s won whilst part of Team HRC.
2024 was an injury-hit year for Fernandez, but he came back for the last few rounds and showed race-winning speed in those events. With a full off-season of training under his belt, he’ll be motivated to show that he can get back to his GP-winning form, and Cordoba, Argentina could be the perfect place for him to showcase that in round one.
As the sole MX2 rider in 2024, Zanchi put in a number of impressive performances, especially considering it was his first full season in the class. He showed excellent speed, and real tenacity on the variety of terrain found in a world championship and proved the power of the Honda CRF250R with a holeshot in Turkiye. With more experience in the class, and with working with the team, 2025 could really be a breakout year for the young Italian.
So, with three riders currently in the line-up, plus a long-term future secured for the setup and organisation behind the team, Team HRC’s future is looking very strong, with the potential to get even stronger before the start of the 2025 campaign.
Yuzuru Ishikawa
HRC Executive Director
Ever since we came back into this motocross project, we knew that a great partnership was necessary for success, and I think we can agree that in the last 10 years, HRC and Gariboldi Racing have had a lot of success. This extension allows everyone to focus again on the racing and that is the most important part. We fully trust the direction that Gariboldi Racing is heading in, and would like to thank him for his professionalism and dedication to the cause, and we look forward to even more achievements in the future. The return of this year’s riders is key to continue on the right path and I believe that Tim, Ruben and Ferruccio can have very successful 2025 campaigns.
Giacomo Gariboldi Team HRC Team Manager I am very excited with this agreement, and it shows a confidence from both parties that our goals are aligned. We have had a lot of success since we joined forces in 2014, with Tim winning five titles and narrowly missing out on a couple more. We have also had victories along the way with other riders, and this new agreement will hopefully give all riders – present and future – confidence that HRC is in this for the long-term and that we are providing a clear pathway for success. That, of course, will start again in 2025 where Tim, Ruben and Ferro will once again be part of our team and hungry for more success, but we also have some exciting news for an even stronger Team HRC coming soon.Tim Gajser 243 I feel like Team HRC is my second-family and I believe it is the best place and gives me the best opportunity for me to win races and championships. We are always striving to improve and I trust that we can keep getting better and better, and that is what I’m looking for right now in my career. A happy rider is a fast rider and I couldn’t be happier to be riding for Team HRC.Ruben Fernandez 70 Throughout my injury layoff, I had a lot of time to think about things and make decisions on my future, and I knew that Team HRC was the best team for me to be riding for. They stuck behind when I was hurt, and then supported me when I came back and I know that I want to repay all that faith with some results on the track. Even in the last few races, we had some good results and I truly believe I can challenge throughout the whole of 2025 and get my Honda CRF450R up near the top of the class.Ferruccio Zanchi 73 2024 was a year filled with ups and downs, but the one thing that stayed consistent was the effort and teamwork showed by everyone in Team HRC. I felt comfortable in the environment and they made my rookie season as good as it possibly could be, but for 2025 I want to do even better! I learnt a lot about myself and the bike, and with all the data and testing that we did, this will really help for the races next year and I wanted to keep the momentum going and not have to change anything too much. I excited to get going again in March, but now I need to put in the hard-work and make my off-season as strong as I can.Marcus Pereira de Freitas HRC General Manager – MXGP It is great news for everyone involved in Team HRC, that this partnership is together for the foreseeable future. We can now put together a long-term plan for the team, and what we want to achieve, without those worries that can plague the motocross industry. Of course, the short-term is still very important and with Tim, Ruben and Ferruccio, we had a very good 2024, and hopefully we make sure 2025 and beyond is even better. For differing reasons, they’ll all be highly motivated for next season and we’ll have to be on top of our game to help them all achieve the results they want.
Thibault Benistant, Rick Elzinga & Karlis Reisulis Remain with Yamaha & Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 in 2025
Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to confirm that the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team will remain unchanged in 2025, with title hopefuls Thibault Benistant, Rick Elzinga, and Karlis Reisulis set to return. All three riders will once again campaign Yamaha’s factory YZ250FM in the MX2 class of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
With eight race wins and 17 podium finishes to his name, Thibault Benistant is a proven force in MX2. Having spent over a decade with Yamaha, Benistant has celebrated titles in both the EMX125 and EMX250 championships before stepping up to MX2 in 2021. Although the past few seasons have been hindered by injury, the 22-year-old Frenchman enters his final season in MX2 more determined than ever to achieve his dream of becoming World Champion.
Rick Elzinga’s rise through the Yamaha Racing ranks has been admirable. After securing podiums in the EMX125 class and dominating the 2022 EMX250 Championship with four round wins and five race victories, Elzinga has shown that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level. As he enters his third and final season in MX2, the Dutch rider—who has celebrated two podium finishes in 2024—will be fully focused on challenging for a World Championship medal in 2025.
Karlis Reisulis has been a revelation in 2024. After making the last-minute decision to step up to MX2 mid-season from the EMX250 ranks, the 18-year-old Latvian has exceeded all expectations. Since making his MX2 debut in Indonesia in June, Reisulis has delivered impressive performances, quickly adapting to the factory YZ250FM. He has led 23 laps and secured a career-best second-place finish at the MXGP of Switzerland. Reisulis is now poised for his first full season in the pro ranks in 2025.

In 2025, I want to be fighting for the title. I will do everything I can in the winter and the off-season to be ready to give everything.
Rick Elzinga

« I’m really happy to have the opportunity to continue with Yamaha. Although this season started rough due to my back injury and the lack of time to train or test before the opening race in Argentina, I feel like I have made some good improvements throughout the year. I feel at home with the Yamaha Factory MX2 team and I’m delighted to stay for another season! »
Karlis Reisulis

“We are happy to continue with Thibault, Rick, and Karlis for another season. All three riders have come up through our step-up program, with both Thibault and Rick reaching the Monster Energy Factory MX2 team after winning their respective EMX250 titles in 2020 and 2022, while Karlis showcased his potential during his MX2 debut this year. We know these riders well. We know they are fit, fast, and talented, and we’re confident that with a focused winter of testing and preparation, they’ll be ready for 2025.”
JOEL SMETS TO TAKE THE REINS OF RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING FOR 2025 MXGP PUSH2024 MXGP news
Five times FIM Motocross World Champion Joel Smets will become Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager for the 2025 season and to replace Harry Norton who diligently guided the decorated title-winning crew through a year of transition in 2024.
The 55-year-old has been a pivotal part of the Red Bull KTM Grand Prix structure since 2015 and when he joined in a managerial capacity, overseeing aspects of the riders’ preparation. His impact has been extensive in that time but perhaps best seen in his work with Tom Vialle and Andrea Adamo; helping both the Frenchman and the Italian to transition from promising riders to Grand Prix winners and world champions. He also played a significant role in the development of MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado, amongst others.
Smets’ connection with KTM runs deeper and earlier than 2015. The Belgian claimed his fourth and fifth world titles on factory KTM SX-F machinery.
KTM would like to convey their heartfelt thanks to Harry Norton for the managerial responsibility he assumed for 2024. Harry has a long history with the company back to his first professional years as a mechanic in Australia and then immigrated to Austria, going on to win two MX2 world titles with Tom Vialle in 2020 and 2022. He coordinated fresh staff incorporation, oversaw three of the four riders seize Grand Prix wins this year and had helped solidify the structure through some important internal changes. Norton will retain a key position inside the KTM Motorsport Department. Confirmation of the final 2025 MXGP Red Bull KTM Factory Racing line-up for both classes with the KTM 450 SX-F and KTM 250 SX-F will be announced soon. Joel Smets, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: “I have a long history with KTM. As a rider and in a management position it is now over twenty years! I will throw all my experience and my knowledge into the job to try and keep our riders in the winners’ circle. We have had a lot of success in recent years and that has been because of the group effort at the track and back at the factory so it will be an honor for me to lead that now and to keep pushing for all we can achieve.” Robert Jonas, Vice President Offroad Racing: “We asked Joel to take on the task of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager to bring the team up another level again after Harry did a very admirable job this year. We have been in transition with some changes in the last three seasons and Joel is the best person for the role now for several reasons: he has the history and the knowledge of the company, he knows the team intimately and he has all that riding experience as well as expertise of pushing riders to higher performance goals in their careers. Joel feels ready to extend his usual work on a wider scale and we’re thrilled that he’ll be heading our MXGP effort as we aim to chase those titles again.”
Yamaha Motor Europe & MJC Yamaha Official EMX125 Team Announce Exciting Four-Rider Line-Up for 2025 EMX125 Championship
Yamaha Motor Europe and the MJC Yamaha Official EMX125 team are thrilled to reveal their powerhouse four-rider line-up for the 2025 EMX125 Championship. The team will retain its talented trio of riders—Dutch sensation Dani Heitink, French rising star Mano Faure, and Belgian standout Jarne Bervoets—while also welcoming the reigning Junior Motocross 85cc World Champion, Levi Townley, from New Zealand.
Dani Heitink had a breakout rookie season in the EMX125 class, scoring two impressive race wins and four top-five finishes. The young Dutchman has set his sights on an even stronger performance in 2025, aiming to challenge for the championship title.
Mano Faure burst onto the scene with a podium finish at the opening round of 2024 in Sardinia, demonstrating his potential early on. Despite a season-ending injury in May, Faure secured five top-five finishes and two podiums and is eager to bounce back stronger in 2025 to fight for the crown.
Belgium’s Jarne Bervoets faced his share of challenges in his rookie season but still managed to score seven top-10 finishes while battling injuries. Now fully recovered, Bervoets is ready to hit the ground running and show his full potential in 2025.
Joining this talented roster is 14-year-old bLU cRU graduate Levi Townley, fresh off an incredible season on the international stage. After capturing the 85cc title at the 2024 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in Heerde, The Netherlands, Townley made a seamless transition to the YZ125 and capped off his season with an impressive second-place finish at the YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup SuperFinale during the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations in early October.Townley, the son of former MX2 World Champion Ben Townley, is set to relocate to France ahead of the 2025 EMX125 Championship, where he will prepare for his first European Championship campaign.
With this exciting mix of young talent, all competing aboard GYTR kitted YZ125s, the MJC Yamaha Official EMX125 team is set for an action-packed and promising 2025 season.
Thorsten Lentink Yamaha Motor Europe MX Racing Specialist « We’re happy to continue into 2025 with the same three riders. These young talents were relatively new to the EMX125 class in 2024, but they demonstrated impressive potential. Our primary goal was for them to learn, gain experience, and grow, and they achieved just that. While injuries set us back at times, their overall progress was very positive. We’re confident they’ll use what they learned in 2024 to chase top results in 2025. Adding Levi Townley to the team is also very exciting. His win at the Junior Motocross World Championship on his YZ85 was special. We immediately saw his natural skill and potential and wanted to give him this opportunity to take the next step in his career with our Official EMX125 team. We’d also like to thank Yamaha Australia/New Zealand for their support, as well as the dedication of his father, Ben Townley, and Josh Coppins in New Zealand, who have given Levi an excellent start to his career. We know the move to France will be a big step for Levi, but we’re confident he’s ready, and we’ll ensure he, along with Dani, Mano, and Jarne, have all the tools necessary to succeed.”

Zanchi wins first CRF450R outing in Sugo, Japan
In what has become a long-standing tradition, Team HRC rider Ferruccio Zanchi headed to Japan this weekend to take part in the in the IA1 (450cc) class at the 62nd MFJ-GP Motocross Competition D.I.D All Japan Motocross Championship Series 2024 Round 8. Teammate Tim Gajser has done it in the past, and it is a good opportunity for members of the race effort in Europe to meet face to face with their colleagues in Japan, as well as give the Honda fans a chance to see a top rider up close. On this occasion, it was also a chance for Zanchi to ride the 2025 Honda CRF450R in a competitive environment for the very first time, which he did with tremendous success as he won every race over the course of the weekend.
After visiting the HRC factory and taking in the sights of Japan, Zanchi turned his attention to the racetrack and immediately looked comfortable on the production bike, despite having ridden the 250cc all season in the MX2 class. The young Italian won the qualification race yesterday before going out and completing a hat-trick of victories by winning both the points-scoring races on a glorious day in the Japanese countryside. His one-one performance continued his excellent end to the 2024 season and gives him a lot of confidence for the off-season where he’ll be preparing himself once again to race in the MX2 World Championship.
Ferruccio Zanchi 73
I really enjoyed coming to Japan and racing here this weekend. It’s been a lot of fun seeing everything and meeting all the people here and then coming to the race and riding well and taking the victory. The 2025 CRF450R is very nice to ride and I immediately felt comfortable on it, and we didn’t have to work too hard for me to find good settings for the races. I had to work hard in both races to come through the pack, but I just rode smart and had fun out there. I want to thank Honda for this opportunity to come out here and I look forward to getting the chance to do it again in the future.
Marcus Pereira de Freitas
HRC General Manager – MXGP
It is important for HRC to keep growing bond between our factory in Japan and our race effort in Europe, so that they can see their work on the race track, and we can see all their work behind the scenes. We have seen that when we work together well, we can achieve great things and given how well the 2025 Honda CRF450R has done in America with the Lawrence’s and now with Ferruccio here, it is great to see that all the feedback from our testing with Tim has paid off and we have created a great product for the consumers. Well done to every member of staff for this 2024 season and we will keep building for the future!

This gave me a lot of confidence to sign for them, knowing that the bike is competitive and it clearly performs very well. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been riding the bike and I’m so impressed already. The team had a good base setting for me to try and so far, it’s been working really well. I can’t wait to begin pre-season testing to really dial in the bike to suit my style and I know that by the time the new season starts, I’ll be ready for round one.”

We have every confidence in Guillem and his ability to run up front, and on behalf of Triumph, I’ll like to welcome him to the team and the brand. I’ve no doubt that 2025 will be another strong season as Guillem and Camden are both exceptionally talented, and with everything we’ve learned in 2024, we’re poised to build on our results and launch a successful campaign in 2025.”
Pauls Jonass joins the Kawasaki Racing Team
The Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP is proud to welcome on board Pauls Jonass, who will join the team to compete in the FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship. A former MX2 world champion the talented Latvian will be the teammate of Romain Febvre.
For the first time in its long and successful history the Kawasaki Racing Team will line up two former World Champions in 2025 as the 2017 MX2 World Champion will join Romain Febvre. Twenty-seven year old Jonass already claimed his first national youth title at the age of ten and was a two-time World Junior and one-time European champion before joining the adult World Championship ten years ago. He quickly established himself as a front-runner in the MX2 world series with three FIM medals – two silver and one gold – and eleven GP victories in five years before advancing to the premier MXGP class in 2019.
Acclaimed as the rookie of the year with sixth in the final standings of his debut season aboard a 450 his progress was dented the following year as he was sidelined by broken ribs and vertebrae sustained in a practice crash, but he rebounded with top-ten rankings in 2021/22 before a thigh injury put him out of action early in the 2023 season.
The effervescent Latvian bounced back in style this year as he raced the factory riders head-on, taking the first GP victory of his career in the MXGP class at Agueda to hold a solid fifth place in the world standings before being sidelined for the remainder of the series after suffering a dislocated shoulder and broken arm in a start crash at the mid-season German round. A successful recuperation sees him back on a bike during the next few weeks to give him a full winter to become acquainted with the Kawasaki KX450-SR before the first round of the 2025 series in Argentina on March 2nd and 3rd and everyone at Kawasaki looks forward to seeing him create a lime-green sensation, together with Romain Febvre, throughout the entire season.
Pauls Jonass: “First of all I would like to thank my previous team for the amazing four years we spent together, and I’m super excited to join the Kawasaki Racing Team; every rider dreams of racing for a factory team. I have worked with Antti in the past and I see how well he runs the team so I’m delighted to be given this opportunity. It will be the first time that I will be working with a Japanese factory team and, having seen how well the bike has worked the last two years, it is a dream to be riding the KX450-SR. Now it’s time to go to work to achieve the best results and hopefully we can soon battle for some wins.”
Antti Pyrhönen, KRT Manager: “We at KRT are very excited to have another really top level rider joining the team. Pauls Jonass is still young yet he has already accumulated great experience of MXGP on the World stage. Pauls’ passion for racing, his will and his rock solid determination are second to none, so this really gives great motivation to all at KRT. We can’t wait to see Pauls alongside Romain to race the acknowledged race winning KX450-SR.”
Steve Guttridge, Race Planning Manager, KME: “It’s great to see the momentum that KRT are establishing for a new season with a stable of riders that represent the pick of the pack. Not only will all Kawasaki fans be delighted to retain the services of Romain Febvre, but the addition of Pauls Jonass sets sturdy foundations for a formidable Championship challenge in 2025 for Kawasaki and KRT”.
The 2025 season kicks off with the MXGP of Argentina once again where the world’s best riders will test their form but this time at a brand-new venue in Cordoba. As tradition, this event will also host the FIM Latin American Motocross Championship sole round, including the MX1 and MX2 classes. From there the action heads to Cózar, Spain for the Grand Prix of Castilla La Mancha.
Italy will play a pivotal role early on with back-to-back races in Sardegna’s Riola Sardo and the picturesque Pietramurata for the MXGP of Trentino. Continuing the intense competition with Switzerland at Frauenfeld to mark the first triple-header of the season.
Then a yet-to-be-confirmed location in the beginning of May followed by a return to Spain in a location to be announced soon. The adrenaline continues in late May with another trio of races as the championship sweeps through France at the magnificent Ernee, Germany’s staple of Teutschenthal, and then Latvia’s famed Kegums circuit in early June.
Following a brief break, the series shifts to Indonesia for back-to-back events in Sumbawa and Lombok, igniting global excitement as the championship moves beyond European borders. After the summer pause in July, racing resumes with a classic European stretch featuring rounds in the Czech Republic at Loket, Belgium’s demanding Lommel circuit, and the MXGP of Sweden in Uddevalla.
Turkiye’s Afyonkarahisar will welcome the riders in September, followed by exciting races in Shanghai, China, and, for the first time ever, in Darwin for the MXGP of Australia as the season races toward its thrilling conclusion.
The FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship will feature six rounds in 2025, beginning with the season opener in Sardegna at the Riola Sardo circuit, setting an exciting tone for the competition. From there, the WMX Championship will travel across Europe, with rounds in Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands in Arnhem, followed by the penultimate event in Turkey. The series will culminate in a grand finale at the MXGP of Australia in Darwin, where the WMX, MXGP, and MX2 classes will join together to cap off an unforgettable season.
The FIM Junior Motocross World Championship will take place on the 6th of July at Romagne in France. Infront Moto Racing’s commitment to creating a dynamic and globally diverse championship remains unwavering, ensuring fans around the world are treated to world-class motocross action. The collaboration with FIM and event organizers, and teams has been instrumental in crafting this compelling calendar, with more updates to follow as further details are confirmed.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing are thrilled to announce that exciting Grand Prix-winning Belgian twins Lucas and Sacha Coenen will steer KTM 450 SX-F and KTM 250 SX-F machinery respectively in the 2025 MXGP and MX2 FIM World Championship.
The brothers will form part of the victorious 2023 and 2024 premier class championship structure helmed by Davide De Carli next season. 2025 represents Sacha’s third term on the KTM 250 SX-F and after a decent ’24 campaign in which he grabbed his first MX2 GP wins and finished 8th in the standings. Lucas, who came within 20 points of the 2024 crown and stood atop the MX2 podium nine times from 20 rounds, makes a sensational leap into the MXGP category.
The 17-year-olds have both demonstrated fantastic progress since their world championship debut in 2023. Sacha Coenen’s starting prowess is unmatched and he logged the most holeshots in 2024. Lucas’s racecraft and speed led to 13 podium results as he headed the charts for most Saturday RAM Qualification heat wins, moto wins, Grand Prix wins and laps led.
Lucas Coenen: “It’s official! Red Bull KTM Factory Racing next year and I’m really looking forward to it. The team have so many titles. It’s a dream come true, and also to be in the same team as my brother. I’ll be working my butt off to have the best year possible. I’ll be racing the KTM 450 SX-F and it’s a new chapter with the big boys! Everybody is fast in that class and it will be interesting to see how much margin there is because the times are so tight. I want to learn as much as possible and get the most experience. I have support for what I want to do, and the people around me believe in this choice and this project. It will be really nice. I know the team will help me a lot. Right now I just need to get fit again after the operation to fix my left collarbone, which went fine, and then we can start work for next year.”
Sacha Coenen: “I’m really happy to continue in Red Bull KTM and to work with Davide and his crew next year. I’ve been learning a lot about the bike and the MX2 class these last two seasons and also my speed from the first laps of the moto until the end. We still have some work to do but we have made steps and I am ready to progress again. I’m really motivated and really looking forward to 2025, as well from having Lucas next to me! We’ll do the best we can.”
Davide De Carli, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: “I am very happy to have the talents of Lucas and Sacha onboard for next year. I have always admired their potential since they were racing in the EMX125 European Championship and clearly the results have started to come in the world championship. I cannot wait to start working with them! This winter they will arrive in Rome and we will start preparing for 2025. It is the first time that a team at our level has had twins under the same tent. A great challenge is about to begin.”
