BETA MRT RACING TEAM : MXGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ALMONTE – SPAIN

Il circuito di Almonte, nel sud-ovest della Spagna, ha ospitato il secondo round del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM 2026, il Gran Premio di Andalusia, gara che ha segnato il ritorno sul suolo europeo. I piloti hanno trovato un tracciato dal fondo medio-morbido, reso difficile soprattutto al sabato per la pioggia dei giorni precedenti. Buone le condizioni meteo della domenica.

Quindicesimo nelle cronometrate, Jago Geerts(Beta RX450) ha chiuso la qualifica in ventesima posizione. Nella prima manche dopo una partenza sfortunata è riuscito a rimontare fino alla quattordicesima posizione al traguardo. Il pilota belga ha fatto molto bene in gara due in cui ha terminato al tredicesimo posto. Quindici i punti guadagnati da Geerts a fine giornata che gli hanno permesso di occupare la quattordicesima posizione nell’assoluta di giornata. « Sono molto contento perché ho portato a termine due buone manche. Oggi il feeling con la moto era ottimo e avrei potuto essere ancora più veloce. – ha commentato Geerts al termine del weekend di gara – Rispetto all’Argentina abbiamo apportato molti miglioramenti. Credo che la strada intrapresa sia quella giusta. Da parte mia continuerò a impegnarmi per ottenere risultati ancora migliori. »

In Spagna si è corso anche il primo round del Campionato Europeo EMX250. Alexis Fueri(Beta RX250 2T) ha segnato il diciassettesimo tempo nel suo gruppo di prove cronometrate. Il pilota francese ha centrato un’ottima prestazione nella prima manche: costretto in rimonta da una partenza poco fortunata, Alexis è riuscito a recuperare fino alla sesta posizione finale. In gara due, dopo i primi giri in cui è riuscito a rimontare fino al dodicesimo posto, Fueri è incappato in una brutta caduta e ha terminato trentesimo ottenendo la tredicesima posizione nell’assoluta di giornata. Queste le parole di Alexis Fueri al termine del primo round di EMXGP « In Spagna ho vissuto un fine settimana di alti e bassi. Ottima la manche disputata sabato quando sono riuscito a rimontare fino alla sesta posizione dopo essere partito fuori dalla zona punti. Da dimenticare la seconda. Non ero a mio agio sulla pista e sono stato anche vittima di una spettacolare caduta. Non mi sono fatto male ma ho concluso lontano dalla zona punti. Dura da accettare dopo il grande lavoro di preparazione, ma abbiamo davanti a noi tante occasioni per rifarci. »

Il prossimo fine settimana il Beta MRT Racing Team sarà impegnato a Frauenfeld nel Gran Premio di Svizzera, terzo round della stagione che ospiterà anche il secondo appuntamento dell’Europeo EMX250.

The Almonte circuit, in southwestern Spain, hosted the second round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship, the Andalusia Grand Prix, a race that marked the return to European soil. The riders faced a track with a medium-soft surface, made particularly difficult on Saturday due to rain from the previous days. Weather conditions were good on Sunday.

Fifteenth in timed practice, Jago Geerts (Beta RX450) finished qualifying in twentieth position. In the first race, after an unlucky start, he managed to fight his way back to fourteenth position at the finish line. The Belgian rider performed very well in race two, finishing in thirteenth position. Geerts earned fifteen points by the end of the day, allowing him to secure fourteenth position in the overall standings for the day. “I’m very happy because I completed two good races. Today the feeling with the bike was excellent, and I could have been even faster,” commented Geerts at the end of the race weekend. “Compared to Argentina, we’ve made a lot of improvements. I believe we’re on the right track. For my part, I’ll continue to work hard to achieve even better results.”

Spain also hosted the first round of the EMX250 European Championship. Alexis Fueri(Beta RX250 2T) posted the seventeenth-fastest time in his qualifying group. The French rider delivered an excellent performance in the first race: forced to make a comeback after an unlucky start, Alexis managed to climb back up to sixth position by the finish. In race two, after climbing back up to twelfth position in the opening laps, Fueri suffered a nasty crash and finished thirtieth, securing thirteenth position overall for the day. Here’s what Alexis Fueri had to say at the end of the first round of EMXGP “In Spain, I had a weekend of ups and downs. Saturday’s race was excellent; I managed to fight my way back up to sixth position after starting outside the points zone. The second race is one to forget. I wasn’t comfortable on the track and I was also the victim of a spectacular crash. I didn’t get hurt, but I finished far from the points zone. It’s hard to accept after all the hard work we put into preparation, but we have plenty of opportunities ahead of us to make up for it.”

Next weekend, the Beta MRT Racing Team will be competing in Frauenfeld at the Swiss Grand Prix, the third round of the world championship season, which will also host the second round of the EMX250 European Championship.
