Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres has finished second overall in Switzerland, at round three of the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship. Claiming his second overall podium of the season so far, the Spaniard was in fine form, placing fourth in the opening moto before taking a triumphant victory in race two. Camden McLellan, who arrived with the series leader red plates on his TF 250-X, placed eighth in race one but crashed heavily in race two. Fortunately, McLellan escaped unscathed.
With a race win on home soil in Spain last weekend, Farres was excited to continue showcasing his impressive speed. The Frauenfeld circuit in Switzerland offered a new challenge, as it was hardpack and became more technical as rain fell during Sunday morning.
In race one, Farres started third and bided his time as the race unfolded. On lap seven, the 22-year-old moved into second with his sights set on the leader, Mathis Valin. Guillem moved into the lead when Valin encountered a problem with his machine and led for several laps until he tangled with a backmarker. Farres finished the opening race of the day in fourth.
Guillem was simply flawless in the second moto. After taking the holeshot, the Spaniard then raced away from the chasing pack before withstanding pressure from Liam Everts in the closing laps. By securing his second race win of the season so far, Farres claimed second overall and moves up to second in the series standings.
Despite finishing second in the qualifying race, the MXGP of Switzerland didn’t go to plan for McLellan, who arrived as the MX2 World Championship leader after winning in Spain last weekend. In the opening moto, the South African didn’t execute the best of starts and fought hard for his eighth-place finish.
Race two started in a similar way, with Camden around 15th. An inspiring charge through the field saw him break into the top 10 within a couple of laps before he crashed heavily in the waves section. Fortunately escaping injury, McLellan was unable to rejoin the race and placed 13th overall. Following a difficult day, Camden now sits fourth in the championship after three rounds.
After two back-to-back rounds, the series resumes in Sardegna over the weekend of April 11-12. The deep sand track of Riola Sardo hosts the Grand Prix, and with McLellan having landed on the overall podium at this venue twice in the past, and Farres enjoying a strong run of form, the whole team looks forward to round four of the series.
Guillem Farres
“It was a challenging but ultimately positive weekend here at round three of the MX2 World Championship. Saturday was difficult with a crash in the qualifying race, leaving me seventh, but I came into Sunday ready to fight. In the first moto I got a decent start and worked my way into the lead, but a couple of crashes – including one with a lapped rider – cost me and I ended up fourth, which was frustrating. We turned it around in the second moto though, where I got the holeshot and led every lap, which was a great feeling. I’m really happy to show that I’m still a contender for the championship and that we belong at the front.”

“Sunday in Switzerland was a tough one for me. I didn’t get good starts in either moto, which meant I was fighting from the back all day in difficult conditions. In the first race I made a few mistakes in the opening corners and got shuffled back, then managed to work my way through to eighth, which isn’t where we want to be. In the second moto, I had another poor start but made good progress early on before a heavy crash ended my race. Thankfully, nothing is broken, so now the focus is on recovering over the next couple of weeks and coming back strong in Riola Sardo to build back up in the championship.”
Vincent Bereni – Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager
“It was another big weekend for us, and it was great to be in the position of leading the championship with Camden coming in. Unfortunately, he had a difficult first moto with a poor start and then a heavy crash in the second race, but the most important thing is that he’s OK. We lost some points, but it’s still very early in the season, and there’s plenty of time to recover. On the positive side, Guillem responded really well after Spain with another podium and a race win, which shows the strength and consistency of the team. Both riders have been performing at a high level, and as a group we’re doing a great job. Now the focus is on bringing everything together consistently with both riders so we can continue to fight at the front as the season progresses.”
