The 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations is the longest-running off-road event on the FIM calendar and it is in a strong position to strive for another hundred editions, believes Director of the International Sustainability Commission for the FIM, Kattia Juárez.

“It’s very important to speak about this topic,” says Juárez, when asked how FIM Environmental Code regulations are implemented into the 6DAYS®.“Sustainability for the FIM is not a parallel activity; instead, it is embedded in all of the championships and events that the FIM organise.
“For the 6DAYS®, we know that enduro is a part of nature. It means trails, landscapes and earth. These elements are what make it amazing for riders and fans of the sport.
“It’s important for us to take care of nature and the environments we visit, so it’s critical that sustainability is embedded inside the core of the 6DAYS®.
The 6DAYS® Portugal will act as a global showcase for the Alentejo region, delivering a benchmark model for ecological, operational and socioeconomic sustainability.
Its key objectives are to minimise direct environmental impacts, actively protect ecosystems, optimise waste management, measure and calculate the event’s carbon footprint to better understand and address its climate impact, raise awareness regarding the preservation of the territory and to leave a lasting and positive environmental legacy across the region.
“For this 6DAYS®, we saw the 100th edition as a natural moment to look both backwards and forwards: to evaluate the sustainability initiatives that have been developed across previous editions, to learn from our experience, and to define the next steps for the future of the sport. As the world evolves, we believe motorcycle sport can play an important role in supporting sustainable development and creating positive impacts for communities, participants and future generations.”
“To do so, we have gained complete commitment from all parties involved – the organiser, local organiser, local government, FIM and the sustainability commission.
“We have experts in their field working here too to ensure a successful running of the event.
“We have come a long way during the last hundred editions, so this milestone is important to celebrate that, and also our commitment to the future.
“This Alentejo region of Portugal is amazing and very beautiful; so it’s everyone’s duty to take care of it.
“My advice to everyone is to leave the place better than you found it. Love your planet, earth and sport.”
