Málaga to host the 2026 FIM GA & Awards Ceremony
As a result of the rescheduling of FIM MotoGP World Championship events due to the current geopolitical situation the 2026 FIM General Assembly will now take place on Friday 4 December followed by the FIM Awards on Saturday 5 December, with both events being held in the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga (FYCMA) in southern Spain.

With its long and celebrated history of motorcycle sport, Spain is a natural choice for the annual end-of-season gathering of the FIM Family and last hosted the event in 2024 at Palma on the island of Mallorca. For the 2026 edition, focus will shift to the mainland and the capital of the world-famous Costa Del Sol regionwhere the strikingly modern FYCMA combines lavish aesthetic design with stunning architecture within its impressive sixty-thousand-square-metre site.
This esteemed gathering is one of the major highlights of the year and brings together the many FIM World Champions who have earned the ultimate accolade in motorcycle sport – both as individuals and as part of National teams – following another successful season of competition.
The FIM Awards ceremony will be preceded by the FIM General Assembly that will include a full programme during which representatives from more than one hundred and twenty National Federations will be required to vote on several important matters.
FIM President Jorge Viegas said: “Firstly I would like to thank all stakeholders for their co-operation in making the new date and venue a workable solution given the circumstances. The FIM Awards and General Assembly are always a very special occasion whenever the FIM Family comes together, and I am delighted that we are returning to Spain for one of the most eagerly anticipated and memorable dates on the FIM calendar. The beauty of the Costa Del Sol is without question, and I am sure that the representatives from the National Federations and our many FIM World Champions along with valued stakeholders and all their associated guests will enjoy a wonderful stay. Finally on behalf of the FIM I would like to thank the Spanish Federation for stepping forward to facilitate the change of date and venue at this stage.”
President of Real Federación Motociclista Española (RFME) Ignacio Verneda Casasayas said: ”It is both an honour and a privilege for the RFME to welcome the FIM Family once again to Spain, on the occasion of the FIM General Assembly and the 2026 FIM Awards – an event that will bring together the delegates of all national federations and the World Champions of motorcycling, something we consider a true honour. This time, the gathering will take place in Málaga, affectionately known as ‘La Bella’, an Andalusian city embraced by the Mediterranean Sea, renowned as a leading cultural and tourism destination, with over two hundred days of sunshine each year and more than two thousand years of rich history shaped by Roman and Arab heritage. Málaga is also the birthplace of Pablo Picasso and has been designated European Capital of Gastronomic Culture 2026–2027 by the European Community of New Gastronomy, further consolidating its position as a benchmark for fine haute cuisine. I sincerely hope that the FIM Family will savour their stay by exploring the Alcazaba, the Roman Theatre, the Cathedral and the Picasso Museum; by enjoying traditional grilled sardine skewers and local wines on La Malagueta beach; by taking in the sunset by the sea to the sound of a Spanish guitar, wandering through its charming streets, feeling warmly welcomed and returning home having experienced a truly memorable Spanish experience. The RFME remains at your disposal and expresses its gratitude to the FIM for its decision to return to Spain.”
