Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres has won the MX2 class at the MXGP of Czech Republic. Arriving as the championship leader, the Spaniard claimed his fourth Grand Prix victory in succession to increase his series lead. Teammate Camden McLellan joined Farres on the overall podium in second to secure a double podium for the team for the fifth time this season. Rounding out the team’s great weekend, Triumph has now moved to the top of the Manufacturers’ Championship standings.

 

One week on from moving to the top of the MX2 World Championship standings, Farres headed to Loket with a renewed focus and with his TF 250-X adorned with the series leader red plates for the first time in his career. The technical circuit was prepared well despite warm weather in the lead up to the Grand Prix, and Farres kicked off the weekend with a strong third in the qualifying race.

 

In the opening moto, Farres took advantage of his strong start to run second for half of the race. The Spaniard then moved past the early race leader Janis Reisulis to take control and from there, he maintained a comfortable margin to take his 12th Grand Prix race win of the season.

 

Farres executed another great start in moto two. Running second from the opening lap behind Liam Everts, the Triumph racer couldn’t quite reel Everts in and, knowing that second was more than enough to secure his fifth GP victory of year, he settled for second. Leaving the Czech Republic, Farres now enjoys a 33-point lead at the top of the championship standings.

 

McLellan also demonstrated his ability in the Czech Republic. From outside the top 10 in race one, he reached second at the finish. Then, in moto two, he climbed his way up the leaderboard to fourth. For his efforts, he was rewarded with second overall for his eighth overall podium finish this season. As a result, McLellan returns to third in the series standings with six rounds remaining.

 

Also competing in Loket in the MXGP class, Dirt Store Triumph’s Ben Watson secured 12th overall aboard his TF 450-X machine.

 

Following another strong showing from the Triumph Factory Racing teammates in the Czech Republic, their focus is now on the MXGP of Flanders next weekend. Taking place at the deep sand track of Lommel in Belgium, the event marks the 14th of 19 rounds.

“I’m really happy to have taken my fourth Grand Prix victory in a row and scored more good points for the championship. In the second moto, my start was decent, although not my best, and I moved into second quite quickly. From there, I tried to match Liam Everts’ pace, but he was riding really well, so I settled for second and secured the overall victory. I’m happy with the weekend and already looking forward to the next round.”

“It’s good to be back on the podium, but I can’t say I’m completely happy with my weekend. My starts just weren’t good enough, and that’s something I need to figure out. My riding was good, but I feel like there was a lot more on the table this weekend. We’ll work on improving the starts this week, and hopefully I can come back stronger in Lommel next weekend.”

“Loket is a very challenging circuit, especially from a chassis perspective. The conditions were hot, the track offered very little traction, and carrying momentum through certain sections was absolutely key this weekend. After the track walk on Friday, we were happy with the direction we chose and didn’t make any major changes to the bikes. That gave both riders a lot of confidence, and it showed with them both running at the front. I’m a little disappointed because I genuinely believe Camden had the speed to be the strongest rider this weekend, even if the overall result doesn’t fully reflect that. We’ve been working on a strategy to bring him back to the front, and step by step it’s paying off. For Guillem, there was the added pressure of racing with the red plate for the first time, and he handled it extremely well. Camden has now moved up to third in the championship, which is another positive for the team. We also take over the lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship, which is a great achievement. Now we just have to keep our heads down, continue working hard, and stay focused on the remaining races.”
