Triumph Factory Racing’s Camden McLellan has won his fourth Grand Prix of the season with victory at the MXGP of China. Competing at the penultimate round of the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship, the South African backed up a race one win with second in moto two. Series leader and teammate Guillem Farres joined McLellan on the podium in second overall to round out another exceptional weekend of racing for the team. The result marks the eighth time this season that the teammates have stood on the rostrum together.
The MXGP of China hosted the penultimate round of the 2026 campaign. Racing in Shanghai, both riders had to deal with hot and humid conditions, in addition to the tight travel schedule following last weekend’s Grand Prix in Turkiye. However, the teammates adapted quickly and on Saturday they were soon up to speed with Camden placing third in the qualifying race while Guillem took the win.
In the opening Grand Prix race, McLellan started well in fourth and bided his time before making a charge as the moto entered its second half. With the laps winding down, the 22-year-old made a series of passes and took the lead with three laps remaining. McLellan then rode away to secure his sixth race win of the season.
Moto two unfolded in a similar way. From fifth on lap one, McLellan worked his way forwards and into second in the closing stages of the race. However, despite his best efforts to secure a perfect Grand Prix result, he was forced to settle for second behind his teammate. With one round remaining, McLellan trails Farres by 48 points.
Farres arrived in China with a healthy 50-point lead and a slim chance of securing the MX2 World Championship title. Qualifying first added to the possibility. However, a fall in race one resulted in a fourth-place finish. In race two, he bounced back to take his 14th moto win of the season, with the victory securing second overall on the day and his 13th visit to the overall podium.
Following the MXGP of China, Farres leads the championship over McLellan, with no other rider now mathematically capable of winning the title. This means that Triumph Factory Racing has secured the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship, with the final round next weekend in Australia deciding which rider will be crowned champion.

“It’s been a good weekend for the championship, but it was a shame I crashed in the first moto. In the second race, I was just managing the race after moving into the lead. I was feeling good, so I kept pushing, but the guys behind were coming on strong towards the end. I just tried to stay focused, make no mistakes, and manage the lead to the finish. “Round 18 in Shanghai was an amazing weekend for both riders and for the whole team. Between the two riders, we scored 60 points for Triumph across the weekend and ultimately secured first and second overall. It was a great weekend and the team did an amazing job. The overseas races are never easy. You have to be extremely focused and make sure the bikes are set up correctly, and I think we really hit the mark this weekend and took a big step forward. The most important thing is to finish the season first and second in the championship and also try to secure the Manufacturer’s Championship.
